Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Whiteboard" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a chart sketched in dry-erase marker during a team meeting, on a glossy whiteboard that still carries ghosts of the last meeting, with the key takeaway boxed and circled in red.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Board: #F7F8F6 inside a 14px brushed aluminum frame (vertical gradient #E4E7EA to #B9BEC4 to #8F959C), with a 1px #7D838A inner edge at 50%. Shade the board with a diagonal gradient of #DDE2E6 (60% in the top-left corner, 0 in the middle, #D5DADF at 70% in the bottom right).
- Markers: Black #1E2126 for the title, axes and numbers; Blue #1D4FA3 for the first series and subtitle; Green #1E8A4C for the second series; Red #D23A2F for the event marker and the takeaway circle. Muted text #5B636C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Title: Permanent Marker 40px, black. The takeaway figure: Permanent Marker 24px.
- Everything else: Kalam. Subtitle 21px 400 in blue. Tick labels 19px 700. Direct series labels 20 to 22px 700 in the series color. "KEY TAKEAWAY" 16px 700 red with 2px letter-spacing. Source 17px 400.

Marker ink:
- Put all marker work in one group with a filter that makes the ink uneven: multiply its alpha by low-frequency streaky noise (fractalNoise, baseFrequency 0.018 by 0.05, alpha 1.3*a + 0.18), then by fine grit (fractalNoise 1.1, alpha 1.6*a + 0.35), so strokes look slightly dry in patches.
- Strokes wobble gently: resample every 6px and offset by a sine of about 1px amplitude.

Board effects:
- Ghosting: a few old erased words, a scribbled ellipse, an arrow and a cross drawn in grays and dull blue, blurred 1.6px, at 7.5% opacity, plus one soft white eraser swipe (a blurred rounded bar at 20%).
- Gloss: over everything, a diagonal white reflection gradient (two narrow bands, 85% and 50% peak, around 36% and 47% of the diagonal) at 55% opacity.
- Magnets: glossy 15px round magnets (radial gradients, red #FF8A7A to #D23A2F to #8E1E16, blue #8FB3F0 to #1D4FA3 to #0E2A5C) with a soft drop shadow, holding a slightly rotated printed card (#FFFDF4) that names the meeting.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines. An L-shaped black axis drawn as one 3.5px marker stroke with round joins, 13px tick strokes, and a few round tick values. Label the first x tick with its unit ("wk 1").

Marks:
- Line chart: 5px marker lines with round caps and joins, and 5px-radius filled dots at every point. Direct labels at the right end of each line in its color, no legend. Mark an event with a red 3px dashed (12/10) vertical line and a two-line red Kalam note beside its top.
- Bar chart: bars as marker outlines (3.5px, round joins) filled with dense diagonal marker hatching in the series color (4px strokes, 9px apart), value written above each bar in Kalam 700.

Key takeaway:
- In the right margin, a hand-drawn black 3px box (about 172 x 172px) containing "KEY TAKEAWAY", the headline number in Permanent Marker, and a supporting line in blue Kalam (for example "250 → 150 a week", with the arrow hand-drawn as a slightly curved blue stroke because Kalam has no arrow glyph). Circle the headline number with one loose red 4.5px loop that overshoots its start, tilted about 2 degrees, and never crosses the other text.

Avoid: gridlines, perfect geometry, pure white or pure black, more than four marker colors, drop shadows on the ink, and a boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the red loop only crosses the box, not the other text, the ghost marks stay faint enough to ignore, the gloss doesn't wash out the subtitle, and the card and magnets don't touch the title.
