Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Thermal Springs" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a wellness resort brochure page about its mineral pools. Airy, calm and clean, like warm water on a cool morning: soft seafoam paper, gentle rounded lines and a lot of breathing room.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #E7F2EE (pale seafoam) for the whole canvas.
- Series, in order: #C0856B (warm clay), #5E8FA8 (mineral blue), #7FA38C (soft sage). For line-end name labels use slightly deeper versions so the text stays readable: #A86B51, #4D7C95 and #5E8A6F.
- Title ink: #2F4A46 (deep teal gray). Secondary text and axis labels: #6F8A84. Gridlines and footer rule: #CFE1DA.
- Reference band (comfort or target range): #D6EAE2 fill, its label in #5C8C7E.
- Decorative ripple rings: #FFFFFF strokes.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Marcellus 400 for the title (33px, #2F4A46, sentence case, stating the finding) and the small footer motto (13px, 1px letter-spacing).
- Nunito Sans for everything else: eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase with 3.2px letter-spacing in #6F8A84; subtitle 16px stating the measure and unit; axis labels 13px; line-end names 15px 700; line-end detail 12.5px 400; band label 10.5px 700 uppercase with 1.8px letter-spacing; annotations 12.5px italic; source 12px.

Layout:
- 64px side margins. Eyebrow at y 58, title at y 104, subtitle at y 134.
- Plot area from x 96 to x 752 and y 178 to y 486; the right 140px is reserved for line-end labels.
- Three concentric decorative rings (r 70, 110, 150, 1.2px white strokes at 55%, 43% and 31% opacity) centered just off the top right corner.
- A 1px #CFE1DA footer rule at y 548, "Source: illustrative data" at the left and a short Marcellus motto at the right.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines. Horizontal 1px #CFE1DA gridlines every 2 units that extend 24px past the plot on both sides; y labels right-aligned 36px left of the plot in 13px #6F8A84. Month or category labels centered 30px below the plot.
- The comfort band is a rounded rectangle (14px radius) spanning the reference range, 24px wider than the plot on each side, drawn under the gridlines, with its uppercase label inset at its top left.

Marks:
- Line chart: smooth monotone curves (no overshoot), 4px stroke with round caps and joins, each over a 9px white halo at 70% opacity so crossings stay readable. The last point is an open circle (r 5.5, 3px stroke in the series color, page-colored fill). Each series is named at its end: the name in 15px 700 in its deeper label color, and below it a 12.5px detail line such as "1.2 m deep, 39.6 °C".
- Bar chart: soft, generously rounded bars (8px top radius, 55% of the band) in the same three colors, grouped with 4px gaps, each group sitting on a faint band like the comfort range when a target exists; value labels in Nunito Sans 13px 700 in the deeper label colors just above each bar.
- Annotation: a short elbow leader (1px #6F8A84) from the extreme point to an italic 12.5px note.

Avoid: hard black, dark backgrounds, sharp corners, heavy axes, legends in boxes (label lines directly), saturated colors, and dense gridlines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the end labels do not collide, every line keeps its white halo where it crosses another, the band label sits clear of the lines, and the title's claim is true for the data.
