Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Election Night" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a bright, trustworthy election results board on a TV broadcast. Crisp white, one confident navy header, glossy flat panels and a deliberately nonpartisan pair of colors for the two options. The result is legible from across the room.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #FFFFFF. Panels: a vertical gradient from #FFFFFF to #F2F5F9 with a 1px #D5DCE6 border and a soft shadow (0 3px 5px blur, #12284C at 14%).
- Header bar: vertical gradient #1E3F74 to #12284C to #0C1D3A, with a white gloss overlay on its top half (22% to 0% opacity).
- Option colors: #00949B (teal, first option) and #D98A0B (amber, second option). Never red and blue. A 4px rule under the header is split half teal, half amber.
- Ink: #14213A for titles, values and the majority line. Secondary text: #5E6B80. Gridlines: #D5DCE6. Live dot: #E8484A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Semi Condensed throughout. Header wordmark 800, 26px, 1.5px letter-spacing, white, uppercase. Header context 600, 18px, 1.2px letter-spacing, #C9D6EC, uppercase.
- Title 700, 32px, #14213A, stating the result. Subtitle 500, 18px, #5E6B80, with measure and unit.
- Big result figures 800, 60px, -1px letter-spacing, with the % sign as a 30px suffix. Option names 800, 20px, uppercase, in the option color. Small caps labels 700, 12px, 1.2px letter-spacing, uppercase. Axis labels 500, 14px, #5E6B80.

Layout:
- A 64px navy header bar across the full width: wordmark ("DECISION 2026") on the left, a thin 1px divider, the contest name, and a LIVE pill on the right (28px tall, rx 3, white 10% fill, white 30% stroke, red dot r 5 plus "LIVE" and a time).
- Title at y 114 and subtitle at y 142, 40px left margin.
- Chart panel on the left (about 600px wide, rx 6) and a result lockup panel on the right (about 256px wide), both from y 164 to y 534.
- The lockup has a navy "PROJECTED" ribbon across its top (34px, with a white check mark), one card per option (white, rx 4, a 10px color bar on its left edge, option name, big percentage, vote count), the leader's card with a 2px border in its color and a small solid "WIN" tag, then a precincts-reporting meter (10px rounded track #D5DCE6, navy fill) and a one-line margin note.
- Footer: a 1px #D5DCE6 rule at y 556, "Source: ..." left and the ballot count right, 13px 500 #5E6B80.

Axes and grid:
- Y axis in percent with only a few labeled gridlines (1px #D5DCE6), labels right-aligned left of the plot.
- The 50% threshold is a 1.2px #14213A dashed line (6 on, 5 off) labeled "50% TO PASS" in 12px 700 caps just above it.
- X axis: a 1.2px ink baseline with 6px ticks at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% reporting.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments, 4px lines with round joins in each option color, each sitting on an 8px white halo so crossings stay clean. End each line with a 7px dot with a 2.5px white ring, then a direct label: the option name (800, 18px, option color) and its latest value below it (600, 15px, ink). Mark the moment the lead changes with a dotted vertical line and a white pill label ("YES LEADS FROM 40%").
- Bar chart: grouped or side-by-side bars in the two option colors with a subtle top-to-bottom gradient (lighter by about 10% at the top), square corners, values in 700 ink above each bar, and the same dashed threshold line when there is one.

Labels and annotation:
- Label the series directly at their ends; no separate legend. Keep one lead-change or call annotation at most.

Avoid: red versus blue, party symbolism, 3D, heavy drop shadows, more than two option colors, italic type, and busy gridlines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the two option colors are teal and amber only, the lockup percentages match the last data point and sum correctly, the lead-change label sits at the right x, and no header text overflows its pill or ribbon.
