Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Skin Study" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the clinical results page of a skincare brand's claims booklet. Clean, calm and credible: white paper, one soft pink band, a rose treated line beating a cool gray control, statistics shown honestly.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Header band: #F7E4E6, full width, 148px tall at the top.
- Treated series: #C86B7E (soft rose). Deeper rose for the eyebrow and significance asterisks: #9E4A5C.
- Placebo or comparison series: #9CA3AF (cool gray).
- Ink: #2B2226. Secondary text: #7A6E72. Gridlines and rules: #ECE4E6.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Tenor Sans (400) for the eyebrow (12px uppercase, 3px letter-spacing, #9E4A5C), the title (30px #2B2226, stating the finding), the subtitle (15px #7A6E72 with measure, unit and error type), the legend (14px) and axis category labels (13px).
- Hahmlet for every figure: y tick labels 14px, the big callout percentage (300 weight, 52px, #C86B7E, -1px letter-spacing, ending inside the right margin), the secondary callout (400, 26px #C86B7E), asterisks (600, 18px) and the fine print (11px).

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow, title and subtitle sit inside the pink band. Legend on one row at y 182 with a right-aligned "* p < 0.05 vs. placebo" key.
- Plot from x 104 to 716, y 214 to 484. A callout column to the right of the plot holds the bracket and numbers.
- A hairline rule at y 544, then two lines of 11px fine print explaining the invented study (sample, design, dosing) and "Source: illustrative data".

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #ECE4E6 gridlines extending 14px beyond the plot on both sides; y labels right-aligned 24px left of the plot.
- A 1px ink baseline 14px below the plot with 6px tick marks at each period. Period labels 40px below the plot: "Baseline", "Wk 1" and so on; the final period in ink, the rest in #7A6E72.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments. Treated line 2.5px #C86B7E with filled r 5 rose dots ringed 1.5px white. Placebo line 2px #9CA3AF with hollow r 4 dots (white fill, 2px gray stroke), so the series differ by marker shape as well as color. Error whiskers at every point: 1.2px vertical in the series color with 8px caps. An asterisk in #9E4A5C 8px above the treated whisker at each significant period.
- Bar chart: paired slender bars per period (treated rose, placebo gray at 60% the visual weight via a 1.5px gray outline and a #9CA3AF 35% fill), 2px top radius, the same error whiskers and asterisks above the treated bar.

Labels and annotation:
- At the last period, a 1px ink bracket from just right of the treated point to just right of the placebo point, with a 12px tick out of its midpoint. Beside it the big relative difference ("+30%", computed as treated / placebo - 1), then "VS. PLACEBO" (Tenor Sans 12px, 2.4px letter-spacing) and "at week 8" in 13px muted, a hairline rule, and the treated series' change vs. its own baseline in 26px Hahmlet in the treated color, captioned so it names the treated series ("serum vs. baseline"), since it sits beside the placebo point and would otherwise read as the placebo's change.
- Legend: a 26px line sample with its marker style, then "Series name (n = 32)".

Avoid: gradients, shadows, bright pinks, more than two series colors, a y-axis line, chartjunk, unqualified claims (always keep the fine print).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the bracket percentage and baseline change are arithmetically right, asterisks only sit on significant periods, whiskers don't collide with asterisks, and the placebo still reads as hollow markers at thumbnail size.
