Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Weekend Shift" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a warm evening-mode wellness report. Dark plum, soft rounded bars in violet and peach, rounded type, and the difference in each pair called out in a pill.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1E1426 (dark plum).
- First series: #8A78C9 (muted violet). Second series: #F2B89A (pale peach).
- Primary text, the reference line and pills: #F4ECF4. Secondary text: #A193AC. Gridlines: #33263D.
- Value labels inside bars: #1E1426 (the background color).

Typography (Google Fonts):
- M PLUS Rounded 1c throughout. Title 800, 28px #F4ECF4 stating a computed finding. Subtitle 400, 15px #A193AC. Legend 500, 13px. Category labels 500, 14px #F4ECF4. Axis labels 400, 12px #A193AC. In-bar values 700, 13px, 22px below the bar top. Pill labels 800, 13px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Title at y 72, subtitle at y 100, legend row at y 136: 14px squares with 4px radius for each series plus a dotted line swatch for the reference line.
- Plot from x 96 to 900, baseline y 470, top y 176. Category labels 28px under the baseline, a small axis title under them. Footnote and "Source: illustrative data" at the bottom left.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #33263D every 2 units, labels with a unit suffix ("6h"). A 1px #A193AC baseline. No y-axis line.
- The reference value is a 1.6px #F4ECF4 dotted line (1 on, 5 off, round caps) across the whole plot.

Marks:
- Bar chart: grouped pairs, 44px bars with a 6px gap inside a pair, 10px rounded tops and square bottoms. Each pair gets a pill above its taller bar (or above the reference line, whichever is higher): 24px tall, fully rounded, #F4ECF4 fill whose opacity grows with the difference (0.1 + difference / 150), carrying "+90 min" in 800 13px.
- Line chart: two 3px lines with round joins in violet and peach, 5px dots with a 2px plum ring at each point, and the same pill for the difference at each category placed above the higher point.

Avoid: harsh whites for the bars, square tops, gradients, shadows, a second axis, and pills that collide with gridline labels.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every pill value equals the pair's difference in minutes, the reference line reads above or through the bars correctly, and in-bar labels stay legible on both colors.
