Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Vuln Burndown" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a sprint review slide from an engineering team that takes security seriously. Crisp white, calm greens, precise mono figures, with the sprint cadence and the goal zone visible at a glance.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Target zone: #DDF2E6 (pale mint) filled from the baseline up to the target value.
- Primary series: #1F5C3F (dark forest green), with a wash of the same color at 7% opacity under it.
- Secondary or highlighted series (for example, critical items): #B3263A (crimson).
- Ideal or plan trajectory: #9AA3A0 dashed.
- Text: #16201B. Secondary text and rules: #66706B. Gridlines: #E6EAE8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Manrope for words: eyebrow 700 at 11.5px uppercase with 1.8px letter-spacing in forest; title 800 at 27px with -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the change with numbers; subtitle 400 at 15px in #66706B with measure, unit and date range; legend 600 at 12.5px; sprint labels 700 at 10px uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing; pill words 600 at 12px; source 11.5px.
- DM Mono for every figure: axis ticks 400 at 12px, dates, pill counts 500 at 14px, and the percentage change 12px.

Layout:
- 48px side margins. Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 86, subtitle at y 112, a one-row legend at y 146 (22px mark samples followed by labels).
- Plot from x 84 to 812 and y 186 to 492. The right margin (about 100px) holds the end-of-line pills.
- Source line at the bottom left.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #E6EAE8 gridlines, y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, a 1px ink baseline.
- Sprint boundary rules every two weeks: 0.8px #66706B vertical lines dashed 2 on 3, running from just above the plot to the baseline, with "SPRINT 41" style labels centered in each sprint just above the plot.
- X ticks at each sprint boundary: 5px ink marks and DM Mono dates 22px below the baseline.

Marks:
- Line chart: step lines (horizontal then vertical at each change date, square miter joins). The primary series is 2.6px forest with a 7% forest wash under it down to the baseline; the secondary series is a thinner 1.6px crimson step. The ideal trajectory is a straight 1.6px #9AA3A0 line dashed 5 on 4 from the start value to zero at the original deadline. Each line ends in a 3.5px dot and a remaining-count pill just right of the plot: a 24px tall fully rounded pill (radius 12) filled with the series color, the count in white DM Mono 500 14px followed by a white Manrope 600 12px word ("open", "critical"). Above the primary pill, the percentage drop in 12px forest mono.
- Bar chart: one bar per period in #1F5C3F, square corners, about 60% of the band, with the secondary measure as a narrower crimson bar overlaid on each bar's baseline; the mint target zone behind the bars, the dashed ideal line across them, and the same pills at the right for the latest values.

Labels and annotation:
- A crossed-out original deadline: a thin crimson vertical rule at the deadline date, and to its left a small white knockout block with "ORIGINAL DEADLINE" (Manrope 700 10px, 1.4px letter-spacing, #66706B), the date and goal in DM Mono 14px ink struck through with a 1.6px crimson line across the x-height, and under it the revised date in Manrope 600 11.5px crimson.
- "TARGET ZONE" in Manrope 700 10px, 1.6px letter-spacing, forest at 75% opacity, right-aligned inside the top of the mint zone.

Avoid: smoothing the steps, gradients beyond the flat wash, drop shadows, a boxed legend, more than two strong colors, and rounding the plot corners.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the steps are truly square, both pills sit level with their line ends without overlapping, the strike-through covers the whole deadline text, and the title numbers match the first and last values.
