Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Vent Monitor" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an underground mine control-room trend screen. Near-black, all condensed uppercase, safety yellow and alarm red on stacked panels, with shift bands and a hazard-flagged threshold. Serious, operational and instantly scannable.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0E1417. Panel fill: #121A1E. Night or alternate band fill: #18232A. Gridlines: #243139.
- Primary text: #E4EAEC. Secondary text: #8A9AA2.
- Series: #F2C230 (safety yellow) for the first measure, #E24C3C (alarm red) for the second, one per panel.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Saira Condensed for everything, uppercase. Eyebrow 600 13px with 2px letter-spacing (location in #F2C230, station id in #8A9AA2); title 700 28px #E4EAEC stating the finding; subtitle 500 14px with 0.8px letter-spacing.
- Band labels 600 12px, 1.5px letter-spacing. Axis numbers 500 13px. Annotations 700 13px with 1px letter-spacing. Readout values 600 30px; readout labels 700 13px in the series color.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Two panels stacked with a shared time axis: plot x 96 to 800, upper panel y 168 to 318, lower y 358 to 508. Each panel is a #121A1E rectangle.
- An 84px readout block to the right of each panel (x 820): 3px series-color bar on its left edge, series label, current value, unit and "NOW".
- Time labels under the lower panel only, day markers below those. Footer: source at left, band explanation at right, 12px with 1.5px letter-spacing.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #243139 horizontal gridlines at 3 or 4 round values per panel; y labels right-aligned 10px left of the plot.
- Vertical guides every 6 hours: 1px solid at 12-hour boundaries, 0.6px dashed (2 on 4 off) between. Alternate shifts shaded #18232A across both panels, named above the upper panel.

Marks:
- Line chart: 2px lines with round joins, one measure per panel; the lower series gets a 12% opacity area fill in its color. Key extremes marked with r4 rings (background fill, 2px series stroke) and a 700 13px label.
- Bar chart: one measure per panel as narrow square-cornered columns (2px gaps) in the series color; bars that exceed the threshold keep full color while the rest drop to 55% opacity.
- Threshold: a 1.3px #E24C3C dashed line (7 on 5 off) across its panel with a #F2C230 hazard triangle (20px, with a dark exclamation mark) at its left end and a 700 13px red label "ALARM 1.0% CH4".

Avoid: a second y axis, lowercase text, glow effects, gradients, rounded corners, and more than two data colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that both panels share identical x positions, the time-above-threshold in the title matches the samples, the readouts show the last values, and no label sits on a line.
