Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Vault Climate" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an environmental monitoring console for a collections vault. Dark slate, precise mono readings, each measure tinted in its own color, translucent green bands marking the acceptable envelope, and a status chip that answers "are we OK?" at a glance.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #121A20. Panel cards: #17222A, radius 10.
- Measure colors: coral #F07F6A for the first measure (e.g. temperature), cyan #5CC8E0 for the second (e.g. relative humidity). Each measure's line, axis numbers, axis rule and panel header use its color.
- Envelope and status: #3FBF7F (green).
- Headline text: #E6EDF2. Muted text: #7D8C97. Gridlines: #243039.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Red Hat Display: title 700 28px #E6EDF2 stating the finding; subtitle 400 15px muted with both measures, units and period; footer 12px muted.
- Red Hat Mono for every reading: panel headers 600 12px uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing in the measure color; axis numbers 12px; current reading 500 30px in the measure color; min, max and date captions 11px muted; annotations 500 12px #E6EDF2; the status chip 600 14px green.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Title and subtitle top left; the status chip top right: a 144 x 32 pill (radius 16), green at 14% fill with a green 50% stroke, a 5px green dot and text like "In range 97%" (compute it from the data).
- Never put two measures with different units on one plot with a right-hand axis. Stack one panel per measure (for two measures, about 184px tall each with a 20px gap), sharing the same x positions so days line up vertically. Date labels appear once, under the bottom panel.
- Each panel: header at top left, plot from x 110 to 820, and a readout column at the right edge (right-aligned at x 904): the latest value large, "SEP 30" style date caption, then MIN and MAX.

Axes and grid:
- Per panel, a 1.5px vertical axis rule in the measure color at 50% opacity, with 3 to 4 tick numbers in the measure color. Gridlines 1px #243039 at ticks that are not envelope limits.
- Envelope: a translucent green band (#3FBF7F at 10%) between the acceptable limits, with 1px green dashed (4 on 4) limit lines at 55% opacity and a small "ENVELOPE 16–20 °C" label (500, 11px, 1px letter-spacing, green) inside the band's top-left corner.

Marks:
- Line chart: 2.5px monotone-smooth lines, round caps, with a subtle glow (blur 3 merged under the stroke), and a 4px dot at the latest point. Mark any out-of-envelope reading with a 7px #E6EDF2 ring around a 3.5px dot and a short mono annotation ("Sep 19: 53.4%, out of range").
- Bar chart: one panel per measure as well; slim square-cornered bars (about 55% of the band) in the measure color at 85% opacity starting at zero, the envelope drawn as the same green band behind them, and any out-of-envelope bar outlined with a 1.5px #E6EDF2 stroke plus the same annotation.

Avoid: a dual y axis, red alarm colors for normal readings, heavy card borders, gradients on marks, more than two accent colors plus green, and a separate legend (headers and tinted axes do that job).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the in-range percentage and min/max figures match the data, the envelope bands sit at the right values on each scale, the readout column clears the line ends, and the two panels align day for day.
