Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "User Scores" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a design review slide from an industrial design studio presenting concept test results. Dark warm gray like a studio wall, earthy material colors, an elegant italic serif headline and a clean geometric sans for data.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #221F1D (dark warm gray). Main text: #F3ECE0. Secondary text: #9A928A. Gridlines and footer rule: #34302D. Score tracks: #2E2A27.
- Series: #D0674A (terracotta), #8FAE88 (sage), #EDE3CF (cream).

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Fraunces italic 500 for the title only: 34px, sentence case, naming the winner and how many criteria it leads.
- Jost for everything else: eyebrow 12px 500 uppercase with 3px letter-spacing in #9A928A; subtitle 15.5px 400 #9A928A with scale meaning and sample size; legend names 15px 500 and mean scores 14px 400 gray; scale numbers 13px; value labels 12.5px (the top score in each group 600 in #F3ECE0, the rest 400 gray); category labels 15px 500; footer 12.5px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow y 58, title y 104, subtitle y 134, legend row at y 171.
- Legend: 13px dots in the series colors, then the name and the concept's overall mean. The winner carries an outlined badge "TOP OVERALL" (96 x 19px, fully rounded, 1.2px stroke in the winner's color, 10.5px 600 caps with 1.6px letter-spacing).
- Plot from x 120 to 900, scale floor (score 1) at y 470, top of scale (score 7) at y 206. Footer rule at y 530, source left and a one-line reading note right at y 558 that says the scale floor is 1 and what the bright labels mean.

Axes and grid:
- A thin vertical score scale 24px left of the plot: a 1px #9A928A line from 1 to 7 with 4px ticks and labels 1 to 7. Faint 1px #34302D gridlines at 3, 5 and 7. The scale starts at its floor, 1, never at zero (a rating scale has no zero): a 1px #9A928A baseline at 60% opacity sits at 1 and the scale labels it.

Marks:
- Bar chart: because scores sit on a bounded 1 to 7 scale, draw grouped slider dots instead of bars (bars from 1 would fake a zero). Each concept in a group gets a 6px fully rounded #2E2A27 track running from 1 to 7, columns 40px apart in fixed series order, and its score is an 8.5px-radius dot in the series color ringed 2px in the background color. Value labels 7px above each dot with one decimal. Category labels centered 32px under the scale floor.
- Line chart: 2.5px lines in the three series colors with 5px dots in the series color ringed 2px in the background color, the winner's line 3.5px, values labeled at the last point, and the same scale, legend and badge.

Avoid: a boxed legend, gradients, shadows, bright white, dense gridlines and more than one badge.

When you're done, render the chart and check that no bar or track implies a zero, the dots sit at their exact scores on the 1 to 7 scale, the badge sits on the concept with the highest mean, the "leads on N criteria" count in the title matches the data, the top value in each group is the bright one, and the scale labels line up with the gridlines.
