Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Unit Status" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the unit status board of an ambulance dispatch system on a black monitor. Monospaced system text, solid status blocks, hard-edged stepped lines and a dark red band where a major incident hit.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Screen: #070707. System bar: #0F0F0F with a 1px #262626 bottom rule.
- Status series, in this order: #22C55E (available, green), #F59E0B (en route, amber), #EF4444 (on scene, red), #A855F7 (transporting, violet).
- Incident band: #3A0B0B fill with 1px #EF4444 edges at 60% opacity; its label #FCA5A5.
- Bright text: #E5E5E5. Dim text: #7A7A7A. Gridlines and rules: #262626. Axis line and ticks: #4A4A4A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Saira Condensed 700 for the title only: 36px, #E5E5E5, sentence case, stating the finding.
- Share Tech Mono for everything else: system bar 13px with 0.5px letter-spacing, subtitle 14px dim, legend 14px, axis labels 14px (y values zero-padded: 00, 04, 08), end codes 13px, end values 15px, callout 14px and 12px, footer 13px.

Layout:
- A 30px system bar across the top: a 4px green status dot, a path like "CORRAN CO EMS / CAD / UNIT STATUS HISTORY" left and shift details right.
- Title at y 80, subtitle at y 108, 40px margins.
- Status legend row at y 128: for each status a solid 44 x 22 px block in its color with a 3-letter code (AVL, ENR, ONS, TRN) in #070707, then a 24px line sample in the series' stroke style, then the full name in caps.
- Plot from x 84 to 842, y 186 to 500. End labels to the right of the plot.
- Footer rule at y 548, source left and refresh details right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #262626 dotted (2 on, 4 off). "UNITS" above the y labels. 1px #4A4A4A baseline with 6px ticks every hour and HH:MM labels every two hours.

Marks:
- Line chart: stepped lines (horizontal then vertical, square corners), 2px. Give each series a distinct dash so they separate without color: available solid, en route dashed 7 4, on scene solid, transporting dotted 2 3. Offset coincident series by about ±0.8 to 2.4px so overlapping steps stay visible. End each line with its code block (36 x 18 px) and the final count; nudge labels so they sit at least 20px apart.
- Bar chart: stacked vertical bars per time slot, square corners, 1px #070707 gaps between segments, segments in the four status colors (available at the base); keep the incident band and code blocks as the legend.

Labels and annotation:
- Shade the incident window with the dark red band from the top of the plot to the baseline and label it above the plot in #FCA5A5, centered ("MCI 13:00-14:30").
- Callout the low point: a 2.5px dot on the step, then a short 1px elbow leader in the series color that drops about 9px below the step and runs sideways out of the band through empty plot space to an unboxed one-line label: the main text in the series color ("AVL 1 FROM 13:15-14:00") followed by a dim 12px note ("21 OF 22 OUT"). The leader must never cross another series; route it from the side, never vertically through the busy band.

Avoid: smoothing, glows, gradients, rounded corners, any font other than the two above, and colors outside the palette.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every status is distinguishable by dash pattern alone, end labels don't overlap, the band covers exactly the incident window, the callout's duration matches the steps, and its leader crosses no series line.
