Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Ultra Profile" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the course guide for a mountain ultramarathon, read by headlamp. Deep night navy, a single thin glowing yellow line, dotted drops to rounded station tags, and a darker band marking the hours of darkness.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0C1426 (night navy).
- Data line, key numbers, eyebrow and the peak marker: #FFE066 (headlamp yellow).
- Tags: #16223A fill with a 1px #1E2A44 border. Gridlines and footer rule: #1E2A44.
- Night band: #060A15 (at 55% opacity over the plot, solid in a 26px strip along the base).
- Primary text: #E6ECF7. Secondary text, dotted drops and axis line: #8D99B3.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Sofia Sans Condensed throughout. Eyebrow 13px 700 uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing in yellow; title 32px 800 #E6ECF7 stating the finding; subtitle 16.5px 400 #8D99B3; tag names 14.5px 700 #E6ECF7; tag details 13px 500 yellow ("Mi 24 ยท 13:30"); axis numbers 13 to 14px; small uppercase captions 11.5 to 12px 700 with 1.5 to 2px letter-spacing in #8D99B3; source 13px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow y 48, title y 88, subtitle y 116.
- Annotation tags live in two staggered rows above the plot (tops at y 140 and y 190, alternating), each 104 x 44px with 10px corner radius, centered on its x position.
- Plot from x 76 to x 900, y 250 to 480. Start and finish captions under the first and last axis labels. Footer rule at y 552 with source left and a method note right.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #1E2A44 horizontal gridlines at round values, labels right-aligned 10px left of the plot with the unit ("ft") above the top label. No vertical gridlines.
- A 1px #8D99B3 baseline with 5px ticks and 14px 500 #E6ECF7 labels; the last label carries the unit ("100 mi").
- Event markers: 1.2px #8D99B3 dotted vertical lines (dash 1 4, round caps) from the bottom of each tag to the baseline, with a r 3.5 navy dot ringed 1.5px in yellow where they meet the data.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 1.8px #FFE066 line with straight segments at a fine sampling, over a 3px yellow copy at 35% opacity blurred by 3px for a headlamp glow, and a vertical gradient fill below from yellow at 22% opacity to 0 at the baseline. The maximum gets a 14 x 12px downward yellow triangle just above it and a 14px 700 yellow label ("Greyfell Pike 5,688 ft").
- Bar chart: slim bars (40% of the band) with a 1.8px #FFE066 outline and the same vertical yellow gradient fill, 2px top radius, the tallest bar solid yellow with the triangle marker and label; the same dotted drops and tags for events.
- Time-of-day band: shade the x range that falls in darkness with #060A15 at 55% opacity over the full plot height, plus a solid 26px strip along the base labelled "NIGHT 20:00โ€“06:00" in 12px 700 caps.

Avoid: multiple bright colors, thick lines, solid area fills, glows that clip at the plot edge, crowding tags on one row.

When you're done, render the chart and check that no two tags overlap, every dotted drop lands on the right data point, the glow is not clipped, and the night band matches the stated hours.
