Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Turbine Supervisory" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a turbine supervisory instrument display during a startup. Near-black panel, thin quiet instrument traces, and hard dashed limit lines that tell the operator exactly how close things came.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #121417. Panels and plot area: #1A1D21. Panel borders: #2A2E34, 1px. Gridlines: #23272C.
- Series, in order: #3F9EC0 (muted cyan), #A6CF6E (muted green), #9A84D6 (muted violet), #E4E6E8 (white).
- Alarm limit: #E8C23A (yellow). Trip limit: #E0473A (red).
- Primary text: #D5D9DE. Secondary text: #838A93.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Chakra Petch everywhere. Eyebrow path 12px 600 uppercase, 1.6px letter-spacing, #838A93 ("TSI / TURBINE 1 / BEARING VIBRATION / STARTUP"). Title 25px 600 #D5D9DE stating the finding. Subtitle 14px 400 #838A93.
- Tag names 15px 700 in the series color ("BRG 3"), current values 22px 700 #D5D9DE, limit labels 11px 700 uppercase with 1px letter-spacing in the limit color, tick labels 12px.
- Use plain words or "microns" for units if the font lacks a micro sign.

Layout:
- 32px margins. Plot from about x 76 to 736, y 168 to 500. A 22px phase strip directly above the plot, split into labelled segments for the operating phases (ROLL, SOAK 600 RPM, RAMP 600 TO 3,000 RPM, FSNL 3,000, SYNC, LOAD) in 10px 600 uppercase; the phase that matters is highlighted with a #23282E fill and #D5D9DE text.
- A bearing selector strip on the right (764 to 936px): one 66px card per series with a 5px color swatch bar on its left edge, tag, location name, state word ("NORMAL" or "ALM ACK" in yellow), current value large at the top right and "max N" below it. The card for the series in alarm gets a 1.5px outline in its own color and a #22262C fill.
- Footer rule at y 556, "Source: ..." left and an uppercase node id right.

Axes and grid:
- The plot has a 1px #2A2E34 frame and 1px #23272C gridlines every 40 units and every 10 minutes. Tick labels outside the frame, #838A93. Units above the y labels in 10px uppercase.
- Draw the trip limit as a 1.5px #E0473A line with 8 on, 5 off dashes and the alarm limit the same in #E8C23A, each labelled at the left end just above the line ("TRIP 200", "ALARM 125").
- Shade the time the worst series spent above alarm with a #E8C23A band at 8% opacity, full plot height.

Marks:
- Line chart: thin straight-segment traces, 1.4px, with the series in alarm drawn last at 2px. Mark its peak with a 4px ring (background fill, 2px series-color stroke), a 1px leader and a two-line label (peak value, then time above alarm).
- Bar chart: slim vertical bars (about 40% of the slot) in the four series colors on the #1A1D21 plot, square ends, with the dashed alarm and trip lines across the plot and any bar above alarm getting a yellow value label.

Avoid: glows, gradients, thick lines, filled areas under traces, rounded cards, bright saturated series colors that compete with the limit colors, and a legend box (the selector strip is the legend).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the limit lines are clearly dashed and labelled, the alarm window shading matches the crossing times, the selector strip values match the data, and the four series stay distinguishable at thumbnail size.
