Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Trial Enrollment" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a clinical operations tracker on a deep navy screen. Bright green progress against a ghostly white plan, a soft red shortfall that makes the gap feel real, and a clear projected finish.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0F1729. Primary text: #EEF2F8. Secondary text: #8C98B0. Gridlines: #1F2A42.
- Actual: #4ED08A (bright green). Plan: #F4F6FA dashed at 80% opacity. Shortfall: #F0706A at 20% opacity for the fill and solid for its labels. Secondary measure panel: #5B8DEF (blue).

Typography (Google Fonts): Afacad.
- Eyebrow: 600 13px uppercase, 2.2px letter-spacing, #4ED08A. Title: 600 30px #EEF2F8 stating the gap and its consequence. Subtitle: 400 16px #8C98B0 naming the measure, target and projection method.
- Tick labels 14px; panel titles 500 13px; callouts 700 14 to 16px; legend 14px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Main plot from x 88 to x 860, y 170 to y 402. A separate small panel for the secondary measure directly below (y 446 to y 504) sharing the x axis, with only 0 and max gridlines and its own title. Month labels under the panel. A thin vertical "today" rule (#EEF2F8 at 18% opacity) through both panels.
- Legend row at y 570 (Actual, Plan, Shortfall) with "Source: ..." right-aligned.

Axes and grid:
- Y gridlines every quarter of the target in 1px #1F2A42, labels left. No second y axis on the main plot: any second measure goes in its own panel below with its own scale.

Marks:
- Line chart: actual as a 3px green line with round joins ending in a 5px dot and a 700 15px "116 enrolled" style label. Plan as a 1.6px dashed (6 5) white line with a 3.5px dot at its target and a label above. Fill between plan and actual where actual is behind with the soft red, and print "N behind" centered inside the fill. Project the finish from the recent run rate as a 2px dotted (2 5) green line to the target, ending in a 6px open green ring with a thin 50% opacity drop line; label it "Projected", the date in 700 16px green, and the slip in red. Secondary panel: a 1.6px stepped blue line with its current value labelled.
- Bar chart: monthly actual bars in #4ED08A (3px top corners, about 60% of the band) with the plan drawn as short white dashed ticks across each bar's slot, months behind plan tinted by a soft red cap from the bar top to the plan tick, and the same projection marker and secondary panel.

Avoid: a dual y axis, gradients, glows, heavy legends, and hiding the shortfall.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the shortfall number equals plan minus actual at the latest month, the projected date follows from the stated run rate, and the secondary panel uses its own scale.
