Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Training Zones" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the training-load screen of a sports watch companion app. Technical, dark and energetic: zone colors run cool to hot and every number looks like it came off a device.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #16181B (dark graphite). Legend panel: #1D2024 with a 1px #2A2E33 border and 10px radius. Gridlines #2A2E33, baseline #3A3F45.
- Zones, cool to hot: Z1 #4C7BD9 (steel blue), Z2 #2BB3A3 (teal), Z3 #A3D63B (lime), Z4 #F2A93B (amber), Z5 #E5484D (red).
- Primary text and the target line: #F2F4F7. Secondary text: #8A9099.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Chakra Petch for labels and figures, tabular numerals: eyebrow 13px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in teal; title 30px 600 #F2F4F7 stating the finding ("Week 13 peaked at 7h 48m before the taper"); axis labels 13px 500 #8A9099; legend zone names 14px 600, bpm ranges 12.5px 400, shares 13px 600 in the zone color; small tags ("REC", "TAPER") 10px 600 with 1px letter-spacing.
- Inter for small notes: subtitle 14.5px 400 #8A9099, source 11.5px, legend note 12px 500.

Layout:
- 48px left margin. Header top left. Plot from x 88 to x 700, about 310px tall. A 184 x 346 legend panel on the right listing zones hot to cold (Z5 at top), each with a 6 x 34 color tab, "Z4 Threshold", its bpm range ("160–171") and its share of total time, then a rule and the "Planned load" key.
- Week numbers under the bars (the peak week in 700 white), "REC" under recovery weeks, "TAPER" under the taper, and "Wk" as the axis title in line with the numbers.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines every 100 minutes, 1px #2A2E33; no vertical lines. Y labels left, right-aligned, 12px from the plot.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked vertical bars 24px wide, zone 1 at the bottom through zone 5 on top, 2px dark gaps between segments, 3px rounded top on the top segment only. Recovery weeks drawn at 45% opacity. A dashed #F2F4F7 planned-load target as a short horizontal step over each bar (1.6px, dash 4 3). Above the tallest bar, a white 92 x 24 tag with 4px radius reading "PEAK 468" in 12.5px 700 graphite, with a small white down-pointing triangle under it. On the peak bar, label each segment taller than 16px with its zone ("Z1", "Z2"...) in 10px 700 graphite.
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per zone in the zone colors (or a stacked area with the same colors and 2px graphite separations), the planned load as the dashed white step line, recovery weeks as #1D2024 background columns, and the same peak tag.

Avoid: light backgrounds, gradients, glows, 3D, reordering zones, and colors outside the zone scale for data.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each bar's segments sum to its weekly total, zone shares in the legend sum to 100%, the peak tag sits over the true maximum, and adjacent zones (lime and amber especially) stay distinguishable thanks to the gaps and labels.
