Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Top-Up" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the stored-current display in a light source control room. Dark, crisp and alive: deep navy, a bright cyan sawtooth that glows slightly, a coral window for the one incident and a compact readout in the corner.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B1122. Plot panel and readout box: #101A31, readout border #23314F.
- Trace, readout value and refill annotation: #4BD8F0 (bright cyan).
- Incident window (dump), its label and leader: #FF7A6B coral; the window fill is 14% opacity.
- Title and primary text: #DCE6F2. Secondary text: #7F8DA6. Gridlines: #1C2640, with the target level line in #2E4468.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Quantico 400 and 700. Title 700 25px #DCE6F2 stating the finding; subtitle 14px #7F8DA6 with measure, unit and cadence.
- Small caps-style labels 700 11px uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing ("BEAM CURRENT, mA"). Tick labels 12px. Annotation heads 700 13px with 0.6px letter-spacing; annotation body 12px #DCE6F2. Readout value 700 15px cyan.

Layout:
- Title baseline 58, subtitle 86 at x 56. A 200 x 32 px readout box with 3px radius in the top-right corner (x 700 to 900, y 108) holding a cyan dot, the current value and "TAU 10.2 h" right-aligned; the axis label on the left at the same height.
- Plot panel from x 92 to 900 and y 156 to 500 filled #101A31. Time labels ("00:00" to "24:00" every 3 hours) 22px below.
- Annotations flank the incident window at mid-height: a 1.2px leader of about 37px, the coral head and a one-line cause on the left; the cyan refill head and detail on the right.

Axes and grid:
- A full-scale y axis from 0 so drops read honestly, gridlines every 50 units in #1C2640, the target level line in #2E4468 with its tick label in #DCE6F2 and a small "300 mA TARGET" label at the right end. Vertical gridlines every 3 hours.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 1.8px #4BD8F0 line with miter joins drawn as a true sawtooth: exponential decay between injections, then a perfectly vertical step back up at each injection. Beneath it a glow copy (3.2px, 45% opacity, Gaussian blur 2.6, filter region the whole canvas). The incident window is a full-height coral band; the refill is a staircase back to the target.
- Bar chart: slim cyan bars from zero with 1px gaps, the target level as the #2E4468 line, the incident period as the coral band with bars dropping to zero inside it, and the same corner readout.

Avoid: smoothing the sawtooth (steps must be vertical), a truncated y axis, more than one accent color besides the coral incident, gradients, and big glows that wash out the grid.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every injection step is vertical, the title's floor value and incident duration match the data, the readout sits inside the canvas corner, and the annotations do not touch the trace.
