Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Tincture Bottle" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the paper label of a Victorian apothecary's tincture bottle. Aged cream stock, a double green rule, an oval cartouche and fine inked lines. Scholarly and a little ornate, never kitsch.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Paper: #F3EAD7 with a soft edge vignette (radial gradient from transparent at 60% to #B8905A at 28% opacity at the corners).
- Frame and title ink: #23432E dark green.
- Series: #9A6128 sepia, #1F5C4C bottle green, #C2505A deep madder red.
- Secondary text: #6B5B45. Gridlines: #D9CBAE.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- IM Fell English for the title (29px regular, #23432E, centered in the cartouche, stating the finding), the italic Latin-style botanical line under it (15px italic, #6B5B45) and the small footer motto (13px italic).
- Libre Caslon Text for everything else: the eyebrow over the title (10.5px uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing, #23432E), the subtitle (14px italic #6B5B45), axis numbers (12px #6B5B45), year labels (14px #23432E), series names (14px 700 in the series color), end values (12px italic) and the source line (12px italic).

Layout:
- Double border: an outer 3px #23432E rounded rectangle 20px in from the edges (6px radius) and an inner 0.9px line 8px inside it, with small solid green diamonds (12px) at the four inner corners.
- An oval cartouche centered at the top: a 660 x 100px ellipse filled with the paper color and a 2px green stroke, plus a 0.7px inner ellipse 7px inside. It holds the eyebrow, the title and the botanical line.
- The measure subtitle centered below the cartouche. Plot area about 110 to 780px wide, with a right margin for direct labels. Source bottom left and a label number with "Shake well before use" bottom right, both inside the frame.

Axes and grid:
- Gridlines 0.9px #D9CBAE dotted (1 on, 3 off); the baseline a solid 1.2px #23432E line. No y-axis line.
- Year labels centered under each year with 8px green ticks at year boundaries.

Marks:
- Line chart: 1.8px lines in the three series colors, monotone smoothed, drawn through a very slight ink-wobble filter (fractal noise 0.9, displacement 1.4). Small hand-drawn markers every third point, a different shape per series: sepia open circle (r about 3, paper fill, 1.5px stroke), green small square rotated a few degrees, red diamond. Vary marker size by plus or minus 0.4px for a hand-inked feel.
- Bar chart: slender square-cornered bars in the same three colors, grouped, with a 1px darker outline and a faint paper-colored gap between bars; the same marker shape printed as a small emblem above each series group key.

Labels and annotation:
- Direct labels in the right margin: a thin 0.8px leader from the line end, the series marker, the name in Libre Caslon Text bold and a small italic line with a summary value. Spread labels at least 34px apart. No legend box.

Avoid: bright or saturated colors, drop shadows, sans-serif type, heavy gridlines, modern flat UI styling, and reusing one marker shape for two series.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the title sits comfortably inside the cartouche, the three series are distinguishable by marker shape as well as color, labels do not collide, and every number in the title is true for the data.
