Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Throughput Weeks" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an engineering team's weekly delivery review on a big dark screen. Deep night blue, each week in its own faint lane, crisp stacked bars and one thin white trend line riding across the tops.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0A1020. Alternate week lanes #0E1628; lane dividers 1px #1A2439; gridlines #1C2740 dashed 2 on 4; baseline #334155.
- Series, bottom to top: #3B82F6 (features), #F87171 (bugs), #94A3B8 (chores).
- Trend line and its callout: #FFFFFF.
- Title #F1F5F9, secondary text #94A3B8, dim labels #5B6B85, eyebrow #60A5FA.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Space Grotesk 600 29px for the title, -0.6px letter-spacing, stating the finding.
- Barlow for everything else: eyebrow 600 12px uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; subtitle 16px; legend 500 14px; axis 13px; week labels 12.5px; totals row 600 14px; callouts 600 to 700 12 to 12.5px; footer 12px.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Eyebrow at y 46, title at y 86, subtitle at y 114, legend at y 146.
- Plot from x 84 to 900, y 196 to 478, divided into equal week lanes that extend down behind the labels. Under the baseline: week labels ("W21"), then a totals row in bright ink with a small "TOTAL" row header on the left.
- Footer at y 578: source left, a count summary right.

Axes and grid:
- Only a few horizontal gridlines (every 10 units), labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. No axis lines except the baseline.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked bars 30px wide centered in each lane, 1.5px background-colored gaps between segments, 3px rounded top corners on the top segment only. A 1.8px #FFFFFF rolling-average line connects the lane centers, drawn over a 5px background-colored under-stroke at 60% opacity so it reads over the bars, with 2.8px hollow dots (background fill, 1.5px white ring). The last average gets a white pill (22px tall, 4px radius, dark 700 text) with a thin leader; the first average gets a haloed text label.
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per series in the same three colors across the week lanes, with the white rolling average as a thin 1.8px line and the same totals row beneath.

Avoid: glow effects, gradients on bars, more than three data colors, and per-bar value labels that collide with the average line.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the rolling average is computed correctly, the totals row matches each stack, the title numbers match the first and last averages, and the white callout is not clipped at the top.
