Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Thermal Soak" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a silicon validation lab report on a dark slate screen. Four sensor lines in graded warm tones from yellow (hottest) to deep red (coolest), a dashed throttle limit, and the moment throttling engages marked by a vertical rule that opens a subtly shaded region.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #161A20 (dark slate). Shaded region after the event: #1D222A.
- Series, hottest to coolest: #F4E26A (yellow), #F7A03C (amber), #EC5B3A (orange red), #B42446 (deep red).
- Limit line, event rule and their labels: #D5DAE1. Primary text: #EEF0F3. Secondary text: #9199A6.
- Gridlines: #262C35. Bottom axis line: #3A414C.

Typography (Google Fonts): Changa throughout.
- Title 27px 600 #EEF0F3 stating the finding (which sensor hit the limit and when). Subtitle 15px 400 #9199A6 with measure, unit and test.
- Limit label 11.5px 600 uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing; event label 12px 700 uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing and a 12.5px 400 explanation line below it.
- Direct labels: series name 14px 500 #EEF0F3, value line 12px #9199A6. Axis labels 12.5px #9199A6. Source 11.5px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins; title at y 58, subtitle at 86.
- Plot from x 84 to 744 and y 132 to 492; the right 160px hold direct labels.
- X axis title right-aligned under the tick labels; source at y 578 left and a secondary fact at the right.

Axes and grid:
- Y gridlines every 10 units in 1px #262C35, labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, the top label carrying the unit.
- X labels at round intervals 22px below the plot, no ticks. No axis lines except the bottom gridline in #3A414C.

Marks:
- Line chart: 2.4px straight-segment lines with round joins and caps, drawn coolest first so the hottest sits on top. The limit is a 1.2px #D5DAE1 line dashed 7 on, 5 off with its label above it at the left. The event is a 1px #D5DAE1 vertical rule the full plot height with a 4.5px ring (canvas fill, 1.5px #EEF0F3 stroke) where it meets the limit; everything right of it is shaded #1D222A. Direct labels at the right: a 3.5px dot at each line end, a 1px elbow leader in the series color to a 4 x 26 px color bar, then the name and the final value; nudge labels apart to at least 34px.
- Bar chart: square-cornered columns in the same four graded colors (grouped by category, hottest first), a dashed #D5DAE1 limit line across the plot, and columns over the limit marked with a small #EEF0F3 ring above them; value labels 12px above each column.

Avoid: cool colors, rainbow ordering, glows, gradients, a legend box (label lines directly), and a limit line in a series color.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the colors grade monotonically with temperature, the event time in the title matches the vertical rule, no series exceeds the limit after the event unless the data says so, and the direct labels do not overlap.
