Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Temper Curve

A cocoa process sheet with a thick gold target curve and a glowing working band.

  • Muted gold#C9A45C
  • Pale pink#F2C6C2
  • Pale blush#F6E4DF

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Temper Curve" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a chocolatier's process sheet. Quiet, luxurious and exact: deep cocoa ground, a soft display serif, a thick muted-gold target with a fine blush trace following it, and a narrow band that glows like warm light.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #24160F (deep cocoa), with a vertical gradient overlay from #2E1D14 at the top to #24160F at the bottom at 80% opacity.
- Target or primary series: #C9A45C (muted gold). Measured or comparison series: #F2C6C2 (pale pink).
- Text: #F6E4DF (pale blush) for the title and key labels; #B39A92 for secondary text. Gridlines: #3A2820. Phase rules and footer rule: #5A4035.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Gilda Display 400: title 34px #F6E4DF stating the finding; phase notes 13.5px #B39A92; footer note 14px.
- Hanken Grotesk for everything else: eyebrow 11.5px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in #C9A45C; subtitle 15px 400 #B39A92 naming measure and unit; legend 13px 500; phase names 12px 700 uppercase with 3.2px letter-spacing; axis labels 12.5px; annotations 12.5px 600 in #F2C6C2; source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 94, subtitle at y 124, legend at y 156 (a 5px gold stroke, a 1.6px pink stroke and a 28 x 10 px band swatch, each with its label).
- A phase margin above the plot: a 0.8px #5A4035 rule at y 176 across the plot, phase names centered in their spans at y 190 with a short serif note below at y 207, and 0.8px #5A4035 vertical dividers from y 176 down to the baseline at each phase boundary.
- Plot from x 92 to x 836, y 222 to 514; the right margin holds the band label. Footer rule at y 556; "Source: ..." left and a serif note right at y 578.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #3A2820 gridlines at round values, labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot with a degree sign ("50°"). X labels below the plot with the unit only on the last ("30 min"). No axis lines, no ticks.
- The working window is a narrow band (here 31–32°C) across the full plot: #C9A45C at 30% fill, plus a copy 6px taller at 35% opacity blurred with a Gaussian blur of stdDeviation 7 (filter region the whole canvas so the glow is not clipped). Label it in the right margin, 10px after the plot, "Working" 12px 600 over the range 12px 400, both #C9A45C.

Marks:
- Line chart: the target is a 6px #C9A45C smooth monotone line at 92% opacity with round caps and joins; the measured series is a 1.6px #F2C6C2 smooth line drawn on top. Mark the measured peak and low with r 3.4 circles filled #24160F with a 1.5px #F2C6C2 stroke, labeled "Peak 50.6°C" above-left and "Low 26.7°C" below.
- Bar chart: vertical bars in #C9A45C with 2px rounded tops, 60% of the slot wide; a comparison value per bar is a 1.6px #F2C6C2 horizontal tick across the bar with a small pink dot at its center. The glowing band and the phase margin work the same way behind the bars.

Avoid: pure black or pure white, bright saturated golds, drop shadows, more than one glow, heavy grids and a boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the title's claim matches the data, the pink trace stays visible on top of the thick gold line, the glow is soft and unclipped, and the phase labels sit centered between their dividers.
