Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Racing Telemetry" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a motorsport telemetry overlay on a pit-wall screen. Carbon fiber, two cars in team colors, sector bands, corner numbers, a lap delta, fast italic condensed type and red/white kerb stripes.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Base: #0E0F11. Carbon weave cells: a horizontal gradient #1D1F23 → #2A2D32 → #15161A and a vertical gradient #0B0C0E → #17191C → #08090A.
- Series 1: #22E5C4 (teal). Series 2: #FF7A1A (orange). A third series, if needed: #F5F5F5.
- Kerb red: #E10600, alternating with #F5F5F5. Text: #F5F5F5 (primary), #9AA0A8 (secondary and axes).
- Gridlines: white at 10% opacity. Sector dividers: white at 28%, dashed 4/4. Highlighted sector band: white at 5%.

Typography (Google Fonts): Barlow Condensed, weights 500 and 600 upright, 600, 700 and 800 italic.
- Title 38px 800 italic uppercase, 0.5px letter-spacing, stating the finding ("CAR 7 FINDS 0.576 S IN SECTOR 2").
- Subtitle 17px 500 upright #9AA0A8 with the measure and unit.
- Sector labels 18px 800 italic ("S1") followed by the sector value in 16px 600 italic, colored by which series won it. Corner markers 13px 700 italic. Axis labels 15px 500. Panel labels 13px 600 italic uppercase with 1.2 to 2px letter-spacing.

Texture:
- Carbon fiber: a 12px pattern rotated 45 degrees made of four 5px cells (0.5px inset), the two diagonal pairs using the horizontal and vertical gradients above, over #0E0F11.
- Vignette: a radial gradient centered at (50%, 45%) from black at 15% opacity to black at 70% at the corners.
- Kerbs: 8px bands along the top and bottom edges, a pattern of 14px #E10600 and 14px #F5F5F5 blocks skewed -30 degrees, at 90% opacity.

Layout:
- Title block top left with a slanted 8px red bar (a parallelogram, #E10600) to its left.
- Top right: a parallelogram panel (black at 55%, 1px #3A3D42 border, 10px slant) listing each series with a slanted color chip, name (17px 600 italic) and its total (18px 600, like a lap time), plus a big headline difference in 30px 800 italic teal under a "GAP" label.
- Main plot about 72 to 900px wide and 168 to 420px tall, with a second short strip below (450 to 516px) for the running difference between the two series.
- Footer: source left and a context label right, both 13px 600 italic uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing in #9AA0A8.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only. Y labels right-aligned 10px left of the plot, the unit ("KM/H") above them in 12px 600 with 1px letter-spacing. X labels centered below the strip.
- Split the x range into three bands (S1, S2, S3, or the three most meaningful phases of the data) with dashed dividers running through both panels; shade the decisive band.

Marks:
- Line chart: 2px straight-segment traces with round joins, series 2 first and series 1 on top. Put a numbered marker ("T1", "T2"...) about 22px under each local minimum (or each notable event): a small slanted parallelogram, black at 70% fill with a white 70% outline, white text.
- Difference strip: the cumulative gap between the series as a 1.6px #F5F5F5 line around a zero line (white at 35%), filled teal at 22% where series 1 leads and orange at 30% where series 2 leads, labeled "DELTA ... / BELOW ZERO: CAR 7 AHEAD" at its top right.
- Bar chart: slanted bars (parallelograms leaning like italic type, 10px slant) in the series colors, grouped by sector bands, with 16px 700 italic values above; the difference strip becomes small up/down slanted bars.

Avoid: rounded corners, serif or upright-only type, soft pastel colors, drop shadows on text, and busy legends (label in the panel instead).

When you're done, render the chart and check that both traces are distinguishable where they overlap, the corner markers don't sit on a line, the sector values add up to the headline gap, and the kerb bands aren't clipped oddly at the edges.
