Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Tap List" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the digital menu screen above a taproom bar. Clean white, a bold black header strip, tall condensed display type and crisp tabular rows, each item with a small color swatch like a menu board.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #FFFFFF. Header bar: #111111, full width, 66px tall.
- Bars: #1C1C1C on pale tracks #EFEDE8. Row rules and gridlines: #E6E3DD. Muted text: #8A8680. Faded row numbers: #C9C5BE. Header secondary text: #B9B4AB.
- Item swatches carry each category's own color on a ramp from pale straw #F6E27A through #EBC553 and amber #C87A2B to #7A4A24 and stout brown #3A2418, each with a 1px #111111 stroke at 18% opacity. One small #C87A2B dot separates the header name from its tagline.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Bebas Neue for the header (venue name 36px, 1.5px letter-spacing, white; tagline and right-side count 22 to 24px in #B9B4AB), column headers and scale labels (16px, 0.8px letter-spacing, muted), two-digit row numbers (22px, #C9C5BE), value labels (22px, black) and tags (15px).
- Karla for the title (700, 25px, black, stating the finding), subtitle (400, 14.5px, muted), item names (700, 15px, black), item details (400, 12px, muted, "8.4% ABV · Double IPA") and source (12px).

Layout:
- 48px side margins. Header bar at the top, title baseline at y 106, subtitle at 130, column headers at 162.
- Each row is 36px tall: row number at x 48, a 22 x 22 swatch with 6px radius at x 80, name and detail line stacked from x 116, an optional tag at x 340, then the bar column from x 400 to 872. Rows separated by 1px #E6E3DD rules.
- Footer: a 1.5px black rule across the width at y 548, "Source: ..." left, and a right-aligned color key (a "BEER COLOR" label, five 16 x 16 swatches with 4.5px radius, and "STRAW TO STOUT").

Axes and grid:
- Scale labels along the top of the bar column (0, 25, 50, 75, "100 IBU"), with thin 1px #E6E3DD vertical lines running down through the rows. No y axis; no bottom axis.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal pill bars, 10px thick with 5px radius, #1C1C1C, over a full-width #EFEDE8 track of the same shape, sorted descending. The value sits 10px right of the bar end in Bebas Neue 22px.
- Line chart: one row per series, each a small sparkline in its row's bar column: a 2px #1C1C1C line over a 10px #EFEDE8 rounded track band, with the last value in Bebas Neue 22px to its right; or, for a single series, a 2.4px #1C1C1C line on the white canvas with Bebas Neue axis labels and the same row-style item list as a direct-label key.
- New or flagged items get an outlined pill tag: 40 x 19, 9.5px radius, 1.3px black stroke, no fill, "NEW" in Bebas Neue 15px.

Avoid: colored bars (color lives only in the swatches), gradients, shadows, drop caps, a legend box, and more than one accent color in the header.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the header text is vertically centered in the black bar, every row lines up on the 36px rhythm, pale swatches still show an edge against white, and value labels never touch the track end.
