Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Table Bloat" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a calm database admin console. A schema sidebar on the left, a clean table of horizontal bars on the right, with the "bad" part of each bar hatched like something that needs cleaning up. Tidy, tabular and quietly alarming.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F5F4FA lavender gray. Sidebar: #EAE8F3 with a 1px #DDDAEA right edge.
- Healthy part: #4338CA indigo.
- Problem part: #F4A09A pale coral, hatched with 2px white stripes at 75% opacity every 6px at 45 degrees.
- Emphasis for over-threshold values: #B4453C deep coral text.
- Text: #1E1B3A primary, #6B6889 secondary, #9794B0 tertiary. Rules: #DDDAEA. Zebra rows: #FFFFFF at 60% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Manrope 800, 26px, -0.4px letter-spacing for the title (the finding), Manrope 500 14px #6B6889 for the subtitle, Manrope 700 10.5px uppercase with 1.4 to 1.6px letter-spacing for column headers and sidebar section labels, Manrope 600 12.5px for legend items. Sidebar schema names in Manrope 13px all-small-caps with 0.8px letter-spacing (active one 700 indigo).
- DM Mono for every number and identifier: row names 13px (500 #1E1B3A when over threshold, 400 #6B6889 otherwise), tabular value columns 13px right-aligned, scale labels 10.5px, the database name 14px 500.

Layout:
- A 196px sidebar: an indigo 22px rounded database icon with the database name, a "SCHEMAS" list with counts right-aligned (the active schema in a white 28px pill with a 3px indigo marker), a hairline, then small stats ("LAST VACUUM", "DEAD SHARE") and "Source: illustrative data" at the bottom.
- Main panel from x 228: title, subtitle, a legend row (14px squares with 2px radius), then a table with column headers: row name, the bar scale (0, 25, 50, 75, 100), a "DEAD" percentage column and a "SIZE" column, both right-aligned.
- Rows on a 37px pitch with alternate zebra rows (4px radius). A total under the SIZE column with a 1px rule above it.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines or gridlines; the scale numbers sit in the header row. A vertical 1.4px dashed (5 4) #1E1B3A threshold line crosses all bars, labeled in a dark pill under the table ("autovacuum at 20% dead", 11px white mono).

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100% horizontal bars, 20px tall, square corners, the healthy share in solid indigo from the left and the problem share hatched coral to the right, separated by a 1.5px page-colored gap. Rows sorted by problem share, descending; rows past the threshold get bold names and deep coral percentages.
- Line chart: indigo 2.5px line for the healthy measure over a hatched coral area for the problem measure, with the same dashed threshold (horizontal) and the tabular value columns at the right edge.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, shadows, gridlines, a y-axis, and pale coral as a text color (it is too light to read; use #B4453C).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the threshold line sits at the right percentage, the rows flagged past it are exactly those whose problem share exceeds it, the hatch reads at thumbnail size, and the totals add up.
