Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Synthwave" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an 80s retro-futurist album cover. Night sky, a striped sunset, a neon grid floor and glowing lines.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Sky: a vertical gradient #0D0221 at the top, #261447 at 60%, #3B0A57 at the bottom.
- Sun: a circle with a vertical gradient #FFD319 to #FF2975 to #8C1EFF, at 28% opacity, with horizontal stripes cut out of its lower half that thicken toward the bottom (use a mask).
- Series, in this fixed order: #2DE2E6 (neon cyan, the current or main series), #FF3864 (neon pink). A third: #FFD319 (sun yellow).
- Floor grid: #FF2FD6 at 45% opacity. Plot gridlines: #9A5CFF at 30% opacity. Text: #F3EAFF (legend), #C9B6FF (subtitle and axis labels), #B89CF0 (source).

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Title: Orbitron 900, 38px, uppercase, 5px letter-spacing, filled with a horizontal gradient #FFD319 to #FF2975.
- Everything else: Space Mono. Subtitle 15px, legend 14px bold, axis labels 13px, month labels 12px bold uppercase, source 11px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- Title and subtitle top left, legend top right (a short glowing line swatch and label per series).
- The sun sits behind the right half of the plot. The plot's baseline is the horizon: below it, the floor is a perspective grid on a #1A0433 band at 70% opacity. Lines converge toward a vanishing point at the horizon's center and horizontal lines get farther apart as they come toward the viewer. X labels sit on the floor just below the horizon.

Axes and grid:
- Thin horizontal gridlines only. Y labels right-aligned left of the plot. No axis lines; the horizon is the baseline.

Marks:
- Line chart: 3px smooth (monotone) lines with round caps and a two-layer neon glow (Gaussian blurs of about 3px and 10px merged under the line). End each line with a 5.5px white dot ringed in the series color. Use a user-space filter region covering the whole canvas so glows are never clipped.
- Bar chart: bars with a vertical gradient from the series color at the top to 20% opacity at the horizon, a 2px glowing top edge in the full series color, and 4px top corner radius.

Avoid: flat colors, a white or black background, serif fonts, more than three series.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the lines stay readable over the sun and that the floor grid doesn't collide with the x labels.
