Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Supplier Findings" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a compliance team's audit dashboard on a dark charcoal screen. Severity colors from pale yellow to deep red, solid for what is still open and hatched for what has been closed, and a plain status column for the verdict.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #1B1C1E (charcoal).
- Severity: #D8433A (critical), #F08A3C (major), #F2E3A0 (minor).
- Primary text #EDEBE6, secondary text #8E8C88, row rules and gridlines #2E2F32. Names of rows with no critical findings in #C9C6C0.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Condensed for names and column heads: row names 16.5px uppercase with 0.6px letter-spacing (700 for rows with critical findings, 500 otherwise); eyebrow 14px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in orange; column heads 13px 600 uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing gray; status text 15px with 0.8px letter-spacing.
- Barlow for the title (700, 28px, #EDEBE6, stating the finding), subtitle (400, 15px, gray, stating the encoding "solid = open, hatched = closed"), figures (segment counts 12px 700 in charcoal on solid segments, totals 15px 600) and footer notes (12px).

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow, title, subtitle, then a legend row: for each severity a solid 14 x 12 swatch next to a hatched one, then the name.
- Rows 30px tall with 1px #2E2F32 separators, names from x 56, bars from x 238, a right-aligned total column ending near x 810 and a status column from x 836.
- Status column: a 4px filled dot (red if a critical finding is open, otherwise orange) with "OPEN (n)" in ink, or a hollow gray ring with "CLOSED" in gray.
- Footer: "Source: ..." left and the sort rule right, 12px gray.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical 1px #2E2F32 gridlines every 5 findings with 11.5px gray values under the last row; a 1px gray zero line. No top axis.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 17px tall stacked horizontal bars, square corners, in severity order critical, major, minor; within each severity the open part is solid and the closed part is a 45 degree hatch (2px color stripes every 5px on the charcoal page color) with a 1px outline in the same color. Leave a 1px gap between segments. Sort rows by critical findings, then major.
- Line chart: one line per severity (2.5px) with small square markers, open counts solid and closed counts as a matching dashed line (4 on 3 off) in the same color, with direct labels at the right end and the status column kept for the latest period.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, glows, a light background, green "good" colors, and sorting alphabetically.

When you're done, render the chart and check that hatched segments read as the same color as their solid partners, segment counts fit inside their segments or are omitted, totals equal the sum of segments, and the status column agrees with the open counts.
