Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Sunset Stack" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a 1970s household-survey poster. A warm sunset spectrum stacked from deep brown at the base to pale butter at the top, fat friendly type, and columns packed so tightly the bands read as horizontal stripes across the chart.

Colors (use these exact values), in stack order from the baseline up:
- #5A2E1C deep brown, #A8431F rust, #E0752A orange, #F2A93B marigold, #F6D77E pale butter. With fewer categories use the darkest ones at the base and keep the order; never reorder by value.
- Background: #FBF3E1 (pale cream). Segment separators are this cream too.
- Ink: #3E2215 for text on light segments, subtitle and labels; muted text #8B6A55; text on brown and rust segments is cream #FBF3E1.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Title: Shrikhand 32px in #F6D77E, set inside a rounded rectangle badge filled #5A2E1C (68px tall, fully rounded ends, radius 34), text starting 32px inside the badge.
- Rubik for everything else: subtitle 500 15px #3E2215 (measure, unit, period), a second line 400 14px #8B6A55 stating the finding with numbers; in-segment percentages 500 13px; category (period) labels 500 13px #8B6A55 with the first and last in 700 #3E2215; legend names 600 15px #3E2215 with a 400 12.5px #8B6A55 "start to end" line under them; source 400 12px.

Layout:
- Badge at the top left (x 56, y 36), subtitle lines under it at y 138 and 160.
- Plot from y 196 to a baseline at y 508. Columns start at x 72.
- The stripe tails and legend occupy the right 230px.

Axes and grid:
- No y axis, no gridlines: a 100% stack needs none. A 1.5px #3E2215 baseline under the columns. Period labels centered 26px below the baseline.

Marks:
- Bar chart (100% stacked columns): 54px wide columns with only 4px gaps, so equal bands line up into stripes across the chart. Each column is clipped to a shape with a fully rounded top (a semicircle of radius half the column width) and a flat base. 1.6px cream separators between segments. Percentages centered in every segment of at least 19%, in cream on brown and rust and in #3E2215 on the lighter bands.
- Signature stripe tails: after the last column each band continues as a short horizontal stripe, 70px long, 4px past the column, centered on the band's middle in the last column, as tall as the band (capped at 22px), with a fully rounded right end. The category name and its "start% to end%" line sit 14px past the tail. These tails are the legend.
- Line chart: draw the same composition as a 100% stacked area with straight segments in the same five colors, 1.6px cream boundaries, the top edge of the stack rounded off where it meets the frame, and the same stripe tails continuing each band past the last point as the legend.

Avoid: a separate boxed legend, gridlines, gradients, shadows, sans-serif titles, wide gaps between columns, and any cool color.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each column sums to exactly 100, the bands line up as continuous stripes, the tails sit at the right heights for the last column, percentages never sit in segments too thin for them, and the title fits inside its badge.
