Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Style Ranking" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a fashion buying office's weekly best-seller sheet. Dove gray paper, ink black bars, a tidy line-sheet row per item with a tiny product thumbnail, and one warm camel accent reserved for items that need action.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #E9E8E5 (dove gray).
- Ink for bars, titles and primary labels: #1B1B1B.
- Accent: #C19A6B (camel), only for the outline and chip on flagged items (chip text #9A7440).
- Secondary text: #77756F. Hairlines and dotted gridlines: #BDBBB5.
- Thumbnail placeholder tones (muted garment colors): oat #C9BBA6, taupe #8F8173, olive #6B735C, slate #4B5563, wine #7A4B4E, rust #9A6446, charcoal #3E3E3E, each with a simple garment silhouette in white at 42% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- DM Serif Display 34px #1B1B1B for the title, sentence case, stating the finding.
- Manrope for everything else: header strip 11px 700 uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing (left, brand and desk) and 11px 600 #77756F with 2.2px letter-spacing (right, period); subtitle 13.5px 500 #77756F; rank numbers 11px 700 with tabular figures (#1B1B1B for the top group, #77756F after); item names 12.5px 600; price and code 10.5px 500 #77756F tabular; value labels 11.5px 700; scale labels 10px 600; chip text 8.5px 700 uppercase with 1px letter-spacing; footer 10.5px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. A header strip at y 46 over a 1px #1B1B1B rule at y 58; title at y 100; subtitle at y 124.
- One row per item, about 25px tall. Left to right: two-digit rank at x 56, a 15 x 20 px portrait thumbnail (1.5px radius) at x 80, the item name at x 104, then price and code right-aligned in a gray column ending just before the bars (price ends 76px before the bar start, code 14px before it).
- Bars start at x 392 and run to a maximum of about x 780, leaving room for values and chips.
- A 0.6px #1B1B1B hairline across the full width divides the top five from the rest, with a right-aligned 9px 700 uppercase label ("TOP FIVE 15,390 UNITS") sitting on it.
- Footer: 1px #BDBBB5 rule, source note left, a small legend (camel outlined box plus "Reordered this week") right.

Axes and grid:
- Scale labels ("0", "1k", "2k") centered above the bar column; vertical 0.6px #BDBBB5 gridlines, dotted (1 on, 3 off), solid at zero. No other axes.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal, ranked largest first, 12px tall, square-cornered, solid #1B1B1B. Value at the bar end, 8px out. Flagged items get a 1.2px #C19A6B outline drawn 3px outside the bar on all sides, the value 12px out, and a camel pill chip (54 x 15, fully rounded, 1px outline, no fill) reading "REORDER" after the value.
- Line chart: one 2px #1B1B1B line per item on a shared time axis only if there are few series; otherwise small multiples in the same row layout (thumbnail, name, sparkline). Flagged series get a camel 1.2px halo line under the ink line and the same chip at the end. End values in 11.5px 700.

Avoid: color in the bars, gradients, shadows, rounded bar ends, heavy axes, and using camel for anything but the flag.

When you're done, render the chart and check that ranks, thumbnails, names, prices and codes align in clean columns, that chips never touch the next row, and that the top-group share in the title matches the data.
