Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Store Traffic" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a calm store operations report. Mint-white paper, one deep green hero series among soft gray context lines, and a warm shaded band pointing at the operational problem.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F2FAF6. Primary ink: #15261F. Secondary text: #5E7169. Gridlines: #DCE9E2, baseline #9FB3AA.
- Hero series: #11694A (deep green). All context series: #A9B8B1 (soft gray); their labels #8A9A93.
- Highlight band: #F6D9B8 at 55% opacity, band text #9A5B1E.

Typography (Google Fonts): Plus Jakarta Sans throughout.
- Title 25px 700, -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding. Subtitle 15px 400 #5E7169 with measure, unit and period. Brand line 13px 600 #5E7169 beside a 22px #11694A rounded square (radius 6) with a small house outline.
- Axis labels 12.5px 500. Hero annotation value 17px 800 #11694A with a 12px 500 detail line. Band label 11px 700 uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing plus an 11.5px 500 note. Right column labels 13px 600 (hero 800) with 12px values.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Brand line at y 56, title at y 104, subtitle at y 132. Plot from x 88 to 800, y 160 to 486. A 1px #DCE9E2 footer rule at y 540 with the source at left and a report name at right (12px).
- A tidy right column (x 834) lists every series by short name, ordered by its last value, joined to the line ends by small S-curve leaders (1px gray, 1.4px green for the hero), with a tiny uppercase column header.
- A two-row legend (hero vs. others) sits at the top right of the plot.

Axes and grid:
- 1px horizontal gridlines at round values, labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. No vertical grid, no y-axis line. Time labels every other step.
- The highlight band spans the full plot height behind the lines, labeled at its top center.

Marks:
- Line chart: monotone-smoothed lines. Context lines 1.6px #A9B8B1. The hero line 4.5px #11694A with round caps over a 9px page-colored halo so it cuts cleanly through the gray. Mark its peak with an r 6.5 green dot with a 2.5px page-colored ring, a short 1.2px leader and the value annotation.
- Bar chart: soft gray #A9B8B1 bars (radius 3 on top corners, about 65% of the band) with the key bar or group in #11694A and its value annotated; the highlight band shades the relevant categories.

Avoid: rainbow series colors, a boxed legend, heavy axes, dark backgrounds, and labeling every context line inline (use the right column).

When you're done, render the chart and check that only one series is green, the right column labels never overlap, the peak value in the title matches the data, and the band covers the right time span.
