Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Station Roster" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the operations board of a polar field station. Crisp, white and practical, with muted expedition colors, a clear weekly grid, and logistics events riding the top axis.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF.
- Categories, in this order: #E0602A (signal orange), #3A4A5E (slate), #27A39A (teal), #8B78B8 (gray-violet). Signal orange doubles as the accent for the headline bar mark and the title flag.
- Ink: #1C242E. Secondary text: #6B7682 (use #5E6E82 for small slate-category captions). Grid and row rules: #E3E7EB. Alternate month shading: #F5F7F9. Side panel fill: #F4F6F8. Neutral mini-bars: #9AA6B2.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Anek Latin throughout. Eyebrow 11.5px 600 uppercase, 1.8px letter-spacing, #6B7682. Title 27px 700 #1C242E stating the finding. Subtitle 15px 400 #6B7682. Row labels 14px 600 with a 9.5px 500 uppercase category caption (1.2px letter-spacing) in the category color beneath. In-bar labels 12.5px 600 white on the left and 11px white at 82% opacity on the right. Axis labels 11.5px; month labels 11px 700 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing. Source 12px.

Layout:
- A 6 x 30 px signal orange flag at the top left, the eyebrow, title and subtitle stacked beside it, then a one-line category legend (14 x 10 px swatches, 2px radius).
- Row labels in a 150px left column; the chart area from x 196 to 690; a 188px side panel on the right (6px radius, #F4F6F8 fill, 1px #E3E7EB border).
- 38px rows separated by 0.8px #E3E7EB rules that run under the label column too.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical week gridlines, 0.8px #E3E7EB, with alternating months shaded #F5F7F9. Week numbers centered under each column, and month names below, each starting at a 1px ink tick.
- A 1.2px ink top axis carrying event markers: downward solid ink triangles (12px wide, 11px tall) with 11.5px 600 labels above ("F1 Nov 2"), and a small uppercase "RESUPPLY" label to the left.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal Gantt bars 22px tall with 3px corners, inset 2px from their week boundaries, solid category color, a headcount label inside on the left and the range ("wk 2–9") inside on the right. Rows ordered by start date.
- Line chart: 2.5px lines in the category colors with straight segments and no markers, direct labels in the category color at the line ends, the same weekly grid, month shading and event triangles on the top axis.
- Side panel: a small uppercase header, a 48px 700 hero number with a 16px unit, a short 13px 600 summary line that fits the panel width ("Peak 37, weeks 9, 11, 12") and a 13px muted line, a rule, then a mini column chart of the total per period in #9AA6B2 with the peak columns in signal orange and a 1.2px ink dashed (4 on, 3 off) capacity line labeled at its right end.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, thick borders, saturated neon colors, 3D, and a second y axis.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the categories stay distinguishable (every row is captioned with its category), in-bar labels fit inside the shortest bars, event labels on the top axis do not collide, and the side panel numbers match the data.
