Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Sprint Burndown" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an agile team's sprint board shown at the retro. Clean white product UI, a kanban header of working days, a yellow sticky note pinned in the corner with the sprint goal, and a thick blue line that honestly shows where scope crept in.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #FFFFFF.
- Primary data (remaining work): #2563EB.
- Scope additions and the pin: #DC2626, with a #FEE2E2 label pill.
- Ideal or reference line, faint labels: #94A3B8.
- Sticky note: #FEF08A with a #FDE047 band at 55% opacity across its top 14px; note text #854D0E (label), #422006 (headline), #713F12 (body).
- Title ink #0F172A, secondary text #64748B, gridlines and column dividers #E2E8F0, day tabs #F1F5F9 (first week) and #EEF2FF (second week), tab top strips #CBD5E1 and #A5B4FC, baseline #334155.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Lexend: title 600 32px with -0.6px letter-spacing, stating the finding; sticky headline 600 17px; sticky body 13px; legend 13px.
- Kode Mono for all labels: eyebrow 600 12px uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing in #2563EB; subtitle 13px #64748B; day tabs 500 11.5px; axis numbers 11.5px; annotation pills 700 12px; source 11px #94A3B8.

Layout:
- 48px left margin. Eyebrow (team and sprint) at y 50, title at y 92, subtitle at y 122.
- Sticky note top right (about x 708 to 892, y 26 to 146), rotated -2.5 degrees, with a soft drop shadow (dx 1, dy 5, blur 5, #0F172A at 16%) and a 6.5px red pin with a small #FCA5A5 highlight at its top center.
- A kanban header row across the plot at y 158: one 30px-tall tab per x category (working days, "MON 07" style), 6px corner radius, 2px gaps (5px at a week boundary), a 3px strip on top of each tab.
- Plot from x 96 to 900, y 206 to 492. Legend row and source share a footer line at y 552.

Axes and grid:
- Thin 1px #E2E8F0 vertical dividers continuing each kanban column down through the plot (1.6px at the week break).
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #E2E8F0 dashed 2 on 4 at each 10 units; numbers right-aligned 12px left of the plot.
- A solid 1.5px #334155 baseline; "START" and "END" in 10.5px mono under its ends.

Marks:
- Line chart: the main series as a straight-segment line, 4.5px #2563EB, round joins and caps, with white-filled dots (r 4.5, 2.5px blue ring) at each reading and a larger dot (r 6.5) at the last. Wherever the value jumps up at a single x (scope added), draw that vertical segment in 4.5px #DC2626 and label it with a "+8 pts" pill (#FEE2E2, 4px radius, 700 12px red text) just above and to the right of the jump. A reference or target series is a 2px #94A3B8 line dashed 7 on 6, labeled along its slope in 11px 600 mono with 1.5px letter-spacing. The final value gets a solid #2563EB callout box (28px tall, 5px radius, white 700 mono text) above the last point, joined to it by a 1.5px blue leader.
- Bar chart: one bar per kanban column, 60% of the column width, #2563EB with 4px top corners, and any increase or added amount stacked on top in #DC2626 with its "+n" pill. A target shown as a #94A3B8 dashed line.

Labels and annotation:
- Label the starting value in 600 12px mono ink ("64 committed").
- The sticky note carries the goal and the headline arithmetic ("69 of 78 pts done"), so the numbers must match the data.

Avoid: gradients on data, heavy borders, more than one accent beyond blue and red, and letting any pill or callout sit on top of the line.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every scope jump is red and labeled with the right amount, the sticky note totals add up, the note does not cover the title, and no label touches a line.
