Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Spend Calendar" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a banking app's month-at-a-glance view. Pale sky background, soft periwinkle daily bars, weekends gently tinted, a green payday marker and small gray merchant capsules pointing out the days that mattered.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #EEF5FC. Weekend bands: #DCE8F7 rounded rectangles (8px radius) behind each Saturday-Sunday pair, running from above the plot down through the day labels.
- Bars: #7B8CE8; the three largest days in #4555C4.
- Payday: #1FA971 (dotted marker line, label pill, and a filled circle behind the day number).
- Text: #1E2A44 (title, day numbers, legend), #6B7A96 (subtitle), #9AA8C0 (axis labels, weekday initials, footnote); weekend initials in #4555C4.
- Gridlines #D9E3F0, baseline #B9C7DC. Merchant capsules #E3E8EF with #4A566E text. Average line #1E2A44.

Typography (Google Fonts): Be Vietnam Pro only, tabular figures for numbers.
- Title 22px 700, letter-spacing -0.3px. Subtitle 13.5px 400. Legend 12px 500. Y labels 11.5px 400. Weekday initials 10.5px 500, day numbers 11.5px 600. Capsule text 10.5px 600 uppercase with 0.4px letter-spacing. Payday and average labels 11px 600. Footnote 11.5px 400.

Layout:
- 48px side margins; title states the finding (for example the share of spending from the top three days), subtitle names the measure, unit and total. Legend (Daily spend, Weekend, Average) top right on the subtitle line.
- Plot from x=88 to x=912 with y labels right-aligned 12px left of it. Under each bar: the weekday initial, then the day number 20px below it.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines every $100, 1px, no vertical gridlines, no y axis line. Bars start at zero.

Marks:
- Bar chart: one bar per day, 58% of the day slot wide, 4px top radius. Top three days in #4555C4 with a 22px fully rounded #E3E8EF capsule 8px above the bar reading "MERCHANT · $amount". A 1.5px dashed (5/4) #1E2A44 line at the daily average with a white 20px fully rounded label pill ("Avg $N/day", 1px #C8D4E6 border) sitting on it at the right end. Payday: a dotted 1.5px #1FA971 vertical line (1/3 dash, round caps) from a 20px #1FA971 "Payday" pill above the plot down to the baseline, and the payday's day number in white on a 10px-radius #1FA971 circle.
- Line chart: a 2.5px #7B8CE8 line through daily values with 3px dots, the same weekend bands, the dashed average and the payday marker; capsules above the three highest points.

Avoid: strong borders, 3D, gradients on bars, crowding the axis with full dates, dark themes, and more than one saturated hue besides the payday green.

When you're done, render the chart and check that weekday initials match the real calendar for my month, weekend bands cover exactly the Saturday-Sunday days, the capsules don't collide with each other or the average pill, and the title's percentage matches the data.
