Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Solo Minutes" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a session sheet from a live jazz date, warm and nocturnal. Deep espresso ground, a heavy display serif, cream labels and instrument-coded bars grouped under each track, with a totals column like a program's credits.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Ground: #1B1410 (deep espresso).
- Series colors, one per instrument or category: #C9A044 (brass, sax), #C9533E (brick, trumpet), #EDE3CC (ivory, piano), #7A9CC6 (dusty blue, bass), #8A745C (warm gray, drums).
- Primary text: #F1E6D2 (cream). Secondary text: #A8998A. Rules and minute guides: #3A2D25.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Rozha One: title 36px cream stating the finding; group headers 17px cream ("1. Lantern Walk"); totals 22px in each series color.
- Mulish: eyebrow 700 12px uppercase with 3.5px letter-spacing in brass; subtitle 15px #A8998A; row labels 600 13px cream; value labels 700 13px in the bar's own color; axis labels 11.5px; totals names 700 14px with 400 italic 12px role underneath; source 12px, footnote italic 12px.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Eyebrow at y 56, title at y 102, subtitle at y 130, then a 1px #3A2D25 full-width rule at y 152.
- Left: the grouped bar chart, group headers flush left, row labels indented 14px, bars from x 200 to 640.
- Right: a "TOTAL SOLO TIME" column from x 700, separated by a 1px #3A2D25 vertical rule, listing each series sorted by total: a 6 x 36 px color tick, name and role, and the total right-aligned at the margin.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical minute guides every 2 minutes, 1px #3A2D25, labeled below ("4 min"). No horizontal gridlines and no frame.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars 14px tall on a 23px row pitch, right ends rounded 3px, square at the baseline, in the series color; groups separated by 26px header rows. Value labels ("6:10") 8px past the bar end in the same color.
- Line chart: 2.5px lines in the series colors with round joins, 4px dots at each point, each line labeled at its right end in 700 13px Mulish in its own color, plus the same totals column on the right.

Avoid: pure white, cool grays for text, gradients, glows, a boxed legend (the totals column and direct labels do that job), and bars thicker than their gaps.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every bar carries its player label and time, the totals sum correctly from the rows, the similar blue and slate series are always identified by direct labels, and nothing runs past the footer.
