Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Snow Totals" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a premium ski-report season recap. Deep blue-black, icy cool segments, crisp white totals and a quiet benchmark tick on every row.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0A0F1C (deep blue-black). Gridlines: #1D2839, 1px.
- Segments in order: #8087E6 (periwinkle, early), #4FC3F7 (bright ice blue, middle), #D8DEE8 (soft silver, late).
- Text and benchmark ticks: #F4F7FB. Subtitle: #B5C0D2. Secondary text: #8592A8. Positive differences use #4FC3F7; negative differences use #8592A8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Nunito Sans throughout. Title 26px 800 #F4F7FB, stating the finding. Subtitle in a lighter weight: 17px 300 #B5C0D2. Legend 13px 600. Row labels 15px 600 white, right-aligned. Totals 15px 800 white. Differences 12px 400. Axis labels 12px #8592A8. Source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Title at y 60, subtitle at y 90, legend at y 122 (14px swatches with 2px radius, 104px apart, then a dashed tick labeled for the benchmark).
- Rows 42px apart starting at y 178, bars 22px tall, sorted by total descending. Plot from x 196 to 860; row labels end 16px left of the plot. Source at y 572.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical gridlines at round values running from 12px above the first row to below the last, labels under the plot (the last with its unit, "1,000 cm"). No y-axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal stacked bars whose segments are separated by 2px background-colored gaps; square left end, 4px rounded right end on the last segment. The total sits 10px past the bar end (or past the benchmark tick if that is further) in white 800, followed by the signed difference from the benchmark (+63 in ice blue, −57 in gray, true minus sign). The benchmark is a vertical tick 7px taller than the bar on each side: a 4.5px background-colored stroke under a 2px #F4F7FB dashed stroke (3 on, 2.5 off).
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per series in the three segment colors with 2px background-colored halos, small round markers, and white value labels at the line ends; draw the benchmark as a dashed 2px #F4F7FB horizontal rule labeled at the right.

Avoid: gradients, glows, 3D, outlines on bars, gaps wider than 2px, and colored totals.

When you're done, render the chart and check that rows are sorted by total, each total equals its segments' sum, every difference equals total minus benchmark, the dashed ticks sit at the right values, and the title's counts are true.
