Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Slow Log" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a terminal tailing a log file. A charcoal panel with an orange accent stripe, a shell prompt with a block cursor, and a histogram built from character cells, like a text-mode chart printed by a command-line tool.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Panel: #17171C. Prompt bar: #1D1D23 with a 1px #26262E bottom rule. A 6px #F97316 accent stripe down the full left edge.
- Data cells: #F97316 orange. The single most important bar (the peak): #FDE047 hot yellow.
- Empty cells (the unfilled grid behind every bar): #212128.
- Text: #E8E6E1 primary, #8A8893 secondary; the prompt path in #9CA3AF. Minor tick dots: #4A4A55.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Semi Condensed 700, 36px, #E8E6E1 for the title (the finding).
- Ubuntu Mono for everything else: prompt 15px (user@host in 700 orange), subtitle 15px #8A8893 prefixed with "# " like a shell comment, legend 14px, axis labels 13px, value labels 13px (the peak 16px 700 yellow), footer 14px.

Layout:
- A 44px prompt bar across the top: "user@host:~/logs$ tail -f ... | hist --by hour" followed by an 8 x 16 px orange block cursor, and "[live]" in orange at the right.
- Title at y 100, subtitle at y 128, a legend row at y 160 with 11px square swatches ("= 10 queries", "= peak hour"), all at x 34.
- Plot from x 76 to 924 with the baseline at y 516. A 1px #26262E rule at y 554 and a footer at y 580: a log-style summary ("-- 1,332 lines, 24 buckets, max 137 @ 14:00 --") at the left and "Source: illustrative data" at the right.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines and no gridlines: the column of empty #212128 cells behind every bar is the grid. Y labels every 5 cells (0, 50, 100), right-aligned 14px left of the plot. X labels every third bar ("03h"), with a 2 x 2 px #4A4A55 dot under the others.

Marks:
- Bar chart: every bar is a column of 18 x 18 px square cells with 3px gaps (21px pitch), each cell worth a fixed amount stated in the legend. The last partial cell is drawn as a cell filled from the bottom to the fractional height. Behind each bar, the empty cells continue up to the same max row. Each bar's count sits 8px above its top cell on a small panel-colored backing so it reads over the empty grid.
- Line chart: plot each point as a single 10 x 10 px orange cell on a faint grid of #212128 cells (one column per x step), joined by a 2px orange stepped line; the peak cell in yellow with its value in 16px 700 yellow.

Avoid: rounded corners, gradients, glows, smooth curves, proportional fonts in labels, and more than one highlight color.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the number of filled cells times the cell value matches each count, the cursor sits right after the command, and only the peak is yellow.
