Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Size Curve" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a knitwear merchandiser's buy review on soft chalk paper. Quiet, tactile and precise: camel wool bars, thin black planning outlines, a blush of rose where the plan missed, and size labels that look like woven garment labels.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F7F6F2 (chalk white).
- Actual values (units sold): #C19A6B (muted camel), solid.
- Plan or target outline: #1E1E1E (also the main ink for text, baseline and size tags).
- Gap between plan and actual: #EBC7C3 (light rose) fill, with gap labels and weak rates in #A5534B.
- Secondary text: #77726A. Gridlines: #DAD6CC.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Italiana for the title only (44px, #1E1E1E, sentence case, stating the finding).
- Didact Gothic for everything else: eyebrow 11px uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing in #77726A; subtitle 15px #1E1E1E; legend 12.5px; axis labels 12px #77726A; actual value 17px with the plan as a smaller "/ 120" suffix at 12px #77726A; gap labels 12px #A5534B ("62 left"); size tag text 14px with 1.5px letter-spacing in #F7F6F2; rate under each tag 12px; footer 10.5 to 11.5px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow naming the style and season at the top, title below it, subtitle below that.
- Legend at the right above the plot: a camel square "Units sold", an outlined square "Planned buy", a rose square "Unsold".
- Plot from about x 96 to 904, baseline at y 452. Size tags below the baseline, a rate line under the tags, and a footer with "Source: ..." left and a totals note right in small uppercase.

Axes and grid:
- Y labels at left in #77726A 12px, a tiny "UNITS" caption above them. 1px #DAD6CC gridlines. A 1.25px #1E1E1E baseline.
- Category labels are woven size labels: 56 x 30 px rounded rectangles (radius 4) filled #1E1E1E with the size in chalk text, and a 1px dashed chalk stitch line (2 on, 2 off, 70% opacity) 6px inside each short end.

Marks:
- Bar chart: one wide bar per category (about 58% of the band, 78px at six categories). The actual value is a solid camel bar from zero; the plan is a 1.25px #1E1E1E outline rectangle from zero to the plan value, drawn on top; the space between actual and plan is filled #EBC7C3 with the gap count centered in it when the gap is 30 units or more. Where the plan was fully met, write "SOLD OUT" (10.5px uppercase, 2px letter-spacing) just inside the top of the outline. Labels "58 / 120" sit 12px above the outline.
- Line chart: the actual series as a 2.5px #C19A6B line with 5px camel dots, the plan as a 1.25px #1E1E1E line, and the area between them filled #EBC7C3 where actual falls short. Category labels on the same woven tags.

Labels and annotation:
- Under each tag, the rate "48% sold" in #77726A, switching to #A5534B when it is below 70%.

Avoid: rounded bar corners, gradients, shadows, heavy gridlines, bright colors, and any font besides the two above.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the outline bars sit exactly on the actual bars' edges, the rose gap reads as the difference, the woven tags are centered under their bars, and the title's percentage is arithmetically right.
