Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Showroom Night" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an evening in a high-end furniture showroom. Deep espresso darkness, warm brass light pooling in the middle, soft vignette corners and an elegant wide-tracked all-caps headline.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1E1712 (espresso), with a centered radial glow of #C9A46A at 7% opacity fading to 0 and a vignette from transparent (at 55% of the radius) to #000000 at 55% opacity in the corners.
- Primary series and highlights: #C9A46A (warm brass). Secondary series: #EDE3D1 (ivory).
- Secondary text and axes: #9C8C7A. Gridlines: #3A2F26.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Tenor Sans for all text. Eyebrow 11.5px uppercase with 4px letter-spacing in #9C8C7A; title 19.5px uppercase with 3.4px letter-spacing in #EDE3D1, centered; a 60px 1px brass rule under it; subtitle 13.5px #9C8C7A centered; panel labels 12px uppercase with 3px letter-spacing in the series color; axis labels 11.5px; peak labels 13px brass; end totals 14px with an 11px caption.

Layout:
- Centered header block: eyebrow at y 54, title at y 98, rule at y 118, subtitle at y 142.
- Plot from x 96 to 864. When the second series is on a different scale, give it its own short panel under the main one (main panel about y 186 to 390, second panel about y 434 to 510), sharing the x axis. Never use a second y axis.
- End totals sit 14px right of each line's last point. A small brass dot legend and the source line share the bottom row at y 570.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #3A2F26 horizontal gridlines, value labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, a 1px #9C8C7A baseline at 60% opacity.
- Weekly 5px ticks below the bottom panel, month labels uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing, and a 1px dotted (2 4) #9C8C7A line at 35% opacity marking the month boundary through both panels.

Marks:
- Line chart: the main series as a 2.2px brass line with straight segments and a brass area fill at 8% opacity; the second series as a thin 1.3px ivory line. Mark recurring peaks (e.g. every Saturday) with a 4.2px brass dot ringed 2px in the background color and the value in brass 12px above.
- Bar chart: slim brass bars (2px radius on the top corners) with the peak bars at full opacity and the rest at 55%, peak values in brass above; any second series as thin ivory ticks or a separate short panel.

Avoid: bright white, saturated colors, heavy glows, dual axes, a boxed legend and bold weights.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the wide-tracked title fits inside the canvas with margin, the vignette never hides labels, every peak dot has a label that does not touch the line, and the stated ratio in the subtitle matches the data.
