Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Shelf Impact" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a packaging-test readout from a design agency. Clean white board, friendly flat pastel pack illustrations on a shelf, and one clear winner called out in bold.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #FFFFFF. Primary text: #23232B. Secondary text and axis labels: #7C7C88. Gridlines: #ECECF1, baseline #C9C9D2. Shelf strip: #F1F1F4 with a 1.5px #DEDEE4 lip under it.
- Series (full color for lines, swatches and pack accents; pastel tint for the pack body): coral #E0735A with tint #F6CFC5; teal #2E9C8A with tint #BFE3DC; blue #5877C9 with tint #CBD6F1; mustard #D39A1C with tint #F4E0B0; violet #9B63B3 with tint #E2CFEA. Use them in this order.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Fraunces 600 for the title, 31px, #23232B, -0.4px letter-spacing, sentence case, stating the finding.
- Lexend for everything else: subtitle 14px 400 #7C7C88 (measure, unit, test design); pack names 14px 500 (700 for the winner); pack sublabels ("Design A") 11px #7C7C88 with 0.4px letter-spacing; axis labels 12px #7C7C88; end labels 14px 400 #23232B, the winner 16px 700 in its own color; source 11px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Title baseline at 60, subtitle at 88.
- A shelf row under the subtitle: a 848 x 7 px #F1F1F4 strip with its top at y 190, the width split into one equal slot per series. In each slot stand a flat pack silhouette about 44 to 60px tall (carton with gable top, stand-up pouch, tin with elliptical lid, bottle with cap, box drawn in simple 3/4 view). Body in the pastel tint, one label band or dot in the full color, a thin white highlight line where a lid or seam would be. No outlines, no shadows.
- Under the shelf, centered in each slot: the series name and a small "Design A/B/C" line. The winner gets an 18px tall pill in its full color with "WINNER" in white Lexend 9px 600, 0.8px letter-spacing, beside its pack.
- Plot below from about y 272 to 520, x 96 to 780; the right 120px hold end labels.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #ECECF1; the lowest line 1px #C9C9D2. No axis lines and no ticks.
- Y labels right-aligned 14px left of the plot with a % suffix; x labels ("Wk 1") centered 22px below the plot.

Marks:
- Line chart: monotone smoothed lines with round caps in the series' full color, 2.5px at 90% opacity; the winner 4px at full opacity and drawn last. Each line ends in a round swatch, r 6.5 (r 8 for the winner), full color with a 2.5px white ring, followed 18px to the right by "Name 13.6%".
- Bar chart: vertical bars in the series' full colors with 3px top corners, the winner's bar full color and the others at 85% opacity, each bar topped by the same round swatch sitting on its top edge; value labels above in Lexend 13px, winner 700 in its color. Keep the pastel pack shelf above as the legend.

Labels and annotation:
- Direct labels only; the pack shelf doubles as the legend, so there is no boxed legend.
- Footer at y 578: "Source: ..." left and a short method note right, both Lexend 11px #7C7C88.

Avoid: dark backgrounds, drop shadows, gradients, outlined or 3D-rendered packs, more than one bold label, a boxed legend, and dense gridlines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each pack's color matches its line, the end labels never overlap (nudge them apart if two values are close), the winner is the only bold label, and the pastel tints read as flat illustrations at thumbnail size.
