Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Sequential Test" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a night-sky monitoring view for an always-on experiment. Deep indigo, two softly glowing lilac boundaries forming a funnel, and one hot yellow path that wanders until it breaks out.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #13112B, with a radial gradient centered slightly right and low from #1E1A45 at the center to #13112B at radius 75%.
- Boundaries: #C4B5FD (pale lilac). Region between them: #C4B5FD at 7% opacity.
- Primary series: #FACC15 (bright yellow). Label pill fill yellow with #13112B text.
- Text #EEEBFF, secondary text #9C97C4, gridlines #2A2750 (the zero line 1.5px).

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Syne: title 700 29px, -0.3px letter-spacing, #EEEBFF, stating the outcome; the in-region note "keep collecting" 400 13px #9C97C4.
- DM Mono: subtitle 13px #9C97C4; boundary names 11px uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing in lilac; tick labels 11px; decision pill 500 14px; statistic readouts 12px (value in yellow, bound in lilac); an italic "not reached" 11px; source 11px.

Layout:
- 48px left margin; title at y 60, subtitle below. Plot from about x 96 to 900, y 150 to 520. Ticks left, day labels below. Source line at the bottom.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #2A2750 at even values; signed tick labels with a true minus sign. A small italic axis letter above the ticks. No axis lines or frame.

Marks:
- Line chart: each boundary is a smooth monotone curve, 2px lilac on top of a glow copy (8px lilac at 70% opacity blurred with stdDeviation 5, filter in user space covering the full canvas). The statistic is a 3.5px yellow line with straight segments and round joins over a glow copy (8px, 35% opacity, blur 7). The statistic stops where it crosses a boundary; after that point dim the plot with a #13112B rectangle at 45% opacity, draw a 1px dotted (2 4) yellow vertical line at the stop, and label the unreached remainder "not reached".
- Bar chart: yellow vertical bars (3px top corners) per look, with the boundary values drawn as two glowing lilac step lines across the bars; the first bar to reach a boundary gets the starburst and decision pill.
- Starburst at the crossing: a 5px filled yellow dot, an 11px 2px yellow ring, and 16 short radial spokes from radius 17 to alternately 24 and 30 (1.6px, round caps).
- Decision pill: yellow, 112 x 28, fully rounded, "stop: ship" in DM Mono, joined to the starburst by a 1.2px yellow leader, with the statistic and the boundary value stacked to its right.

Avoid: more than one hot color, hard neon on every line, grid verticals, a legend box, and a boundary crossing without a label.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the stop day in the title equals the first point at or above the boundary, glows are not clipped at the plot edges, and the pill and readouts stay inside the canvas.
