Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Seminar Slide" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a results slide at a physics group meeting. Dark, calm and mathematical: math-style serif type with italic variables, a measured curve inside its error band against a dashed theory line, the model equation typeset in the corner, and a "Preliminary" tag.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1B232C (dark slate). Equation panel: #222C37 with a 1px #2E3A46 border. Gridlines: #2E3A46.
- Accent: #0E7C7B (deep teal) for the 6px full-width bar at the top edge, the 4 x 54px bar beside the title and the "MODEL" label.
- Measured data: #F2F4F7 (near white), with its uncertainty band in the same color at 16% opacity.
- Theory or prediction: #E8B04A (amber), always dashed; also the "PRELIMINARY" pill outline and text.
- Secondary text and ticks: #93A1AF.

Typography (Google Fonts): STIX Two Text only. Every variable (θ, t, γ, σ, ω) is italic; units, digits and function names are upright. Subscripts and superscripts at 68% size, shifted down 22% or up 40% of the font size.
- Title 700 29px #F2F4F7 stating the finding; subtitle 16px #93A1AF naming the quantity with its symbol, unit, span and what the band means (e.g. "±2σ across 12 trials").
- Tick labels 15px; axis titles 16px near white in lower case, e.g. "time t (s)"; direct labels 16px in the series color; equation 22px; parameter lines 15px; footer 13px italic; slide number 15px.

Layout:
- Title at y 64 and subtitle at y 90, starting at x 74 beside the teal bar.
- Plot from x 116 to 890, y 128 to 462, y-axis title rotated.
- Equation panel (296 x 130, 4px radius) inside the plot's top-right corner: "MODEL" in 700 12px with 2px letter-spacing, the equation (e.g. θ(t) = θ0 e^(−γt) cos ωt), then one line per fitted or predicted parameter with its uncertainty and unit.
- Footer: 1px #2E3A46 rule at y 540; a 116 x 24 rounded pill (radius 12, 1.2px amber outline) reading "PRELIMINARY" in 700 11px with 1.6px letter-spacing; an italic line naming the lab and the source; "14 / 22" slide number at the right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #2E3A46. A 1.2px #93A1AF x-axis with 6px ticks; no y-axis line.

Marks:
- Line chart: measured series as a 2.8px near-white smooth (monotone) line with open circle markers on every other point (r 3.4, slate fill, 1.6px white ring), over a filled uncertainty band. Prediction as a 2.4px amber dashed line (9 on, 6 off). Label each series directly with its name and fitted parameter, placed in open space beside the curve, with a thin 60% white leader if the label sits away from its line.
- Bar chart: measured values as near-white bars (60% of the band, 2px top radius) with thin white error bars and caps, the prediction as short amber dashed ticks across each bar at the predicted value; same equation panel and footer.

Avoid: bright saturated colors, gradients, glows, sans-serif type, upright variables, legends in a box, and unlabeled uncertainty.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every variable is italic, superscripts and subscripts sit correctly, the direct labels do not touch the curves, the title's percentage matches the fitted parameters, and the "PRELIMINARY" text fits inside its pill.
