Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Sell-Through" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a stark white fashion lookbook page turned into a merchandising chart. Black type, a high-contrast Didone headline, one deep denim line and nothing decorative except small red markdown tags.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Ink for text, rules and the plot frame: #111111.
- Primary series: #27365A (deep indigo denim).
- Comparison series (last season or benchmark): #9C9C9C.
- Markdown or event tags: #C8102E (red) with #FFFFFF text.
- Secondary text: #6B6B6B. Gridlines: #E8E8E8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Bodoni Moda for the title (500, 40px, -0.5px letter-spacing, sentence case, stating the finding with the key number) and for end-of-line values (600, 24px for the primary series; 400, 20px for the comparison).
- Jost for everything else: masthead brand 12px 500 uppercase with 5px letter-spacing; masthead right note 11px 400 uppercase, 3px letter-spacing, #6B6B6B; subtitle 15px 300 in #111111; SKU-style code line 10.5px 500 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in #6B6B6B (e.g. "SKU FR-SS26-OW-0214 / 1,840 UNITS / 6 COLORWAYS"); axis labels 12px 400; series name labels 10.5px 600 uppercase, 2px letter-spacing; tag text 11px 600; source 12px 300.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Masthead line at the top: brand name left, collection name right, then a full-width 0.75px #111111 rule.
- Title about 50px below the rule, subtitle under it, the SKU code line under the subtitle.
- A thin 1px #111111 rectangular frame around the plot (about 88 to 836 x 196 to 486). Direct labels sit outside the frame on the right.
- Footer: a 0.75px rule, "Source: ..." left and a folio like "LOOKBOOK 07" (Jost 10.5px 500, 3px letter-spacing) right.

Axes and grid:
- Y labels outside the frame on the left, 12px #6B6B6B, as percentages (0% to 100%). Three 1px #E8E8E8 gridlines inside the frame.
- Category labels (W1 to W12) 12px #111111, 1px letter-spacing, centered 22px under the frame, with 5px black ticks hanging off the frame bottom. Inset the first and last point 28px from the frame sides.

Marks:
- Line chart: the primary series is a 3px #27365A line with straight segments and round joins, with 5px open square markers (white fill, 1.5px denim stroke) at each point and a solid 9px denim square on the last point. The comparison series is a 1.25px #9C9C9C line with no markers except a 2.5px dot at its end. End labels right of the frame: big Bodoni value with the series name in small uppercase Jost beneath.
- Bar chart: slim square-cornered #27365A bars (about 40% of the band) inside the same black frame, with the comparison period as a 1.25px #9C9C9C outline bar or a short gray tick at its value. Value labels in Bodoni above the bars.

Labels and annotation:
- Markdown or price events: a 0.75px #C8102E dotted guide (2 on, 4 off) through the plot at the event, then a 1px red stem from the frame bottom down to a 42 x 18 px solid red tag hanging below the week labels, with the discount (e.g. "-20%") in white Jost 11px 600.
- A small legend key above the frame's right edge: a 10px red square and "MARKDOWN TAKEN" in red Jost 10.5px uppercase.

Avoid: fills under the line, shadows, rounded corners, color beyond denim, gray and red, and a boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the markdown tags do not collide with week labels or each other, the frame is crisp and unbroken, the numbers in the title and subtitle match the data, and the Bodoni title keeps its thin hairlines at display size.
