Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Security Wait" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: terminal wayfinding signage. A black sign band with yellow type, a big letter tile, maximum legibility and high contrast, as if the chart were mounted above the checkpoint queue.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #EFF3F7 (pale gray-blue).
- Sign black: #111111 for the header band, data lines, title, axis baseline and tick labels.
- Signage yellow: #FFCC00 for header type, the letter tile, the casing on the second series and the text inside series tags.
- Limit red: #D62828 for the posted maximum or any threshold, and its label.
- Highlighted period shade: #DDE4EC. Gridlines #D3DAE2. Secondary text #46505C. White #FFFFFF for the location name in the band.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Atkinson Hyperlegible throughout. Header: letter tile glyph 700 30px black on yellow, the sign word 700 24px yellow, the sub-sign 400 20px yellow after a 1.5px yellow divider at 60% opacity, location 400 15px white. Title 700 29px black stating the finding (a duration or count computed from the data). Subtitle 400 15px #46505C. Axis numbers 400 13px; time labels 700 13px black; small caps labels 700 10.5 to 11px with about 1px letter-spacing; source 12px.

Layout:
- A 68px full-width #111111 band at the top. Left: a 40 x 40 px #FFCC00 tile with 4px radius at x 56 holding the terminal letter; the sign word and sub-sign follow. Right: the location name, then a yellow arrow pictogram (4px square-capped stroke, 36px shaft, 14px head).
- 56px margins. Title baseline 116px, subtitle 144px.
- Plot from x 88 to 842, top about 196, baseline 504. The right 60px gutter holds the series tags and the threshold label.
- Footer at 572px: source at left, a one-line key for the cased line at right, both 12px #46505C.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #D3DAE2 gridlines every 5 minutes; the zero line is a 1.4px #111111 baseline. Top y label includes the unit ("30 min").
- Time ticks every 2 hours: 6px black ticks below the baseline and bold 24-hour labels ("06:00").

Marks:
- Line chart: thin 1.8px straight-segment lines. Series one is plain #111111. Series two is #111111 on top of a 6px #FFCC00 casing (draw the yellow stroke first with round joins, then the black line), so the two are told apart by casing, not hue. For a third series use a 1.8px #111111 dashed line.
- Bar chart: flat #111111 bars with 1px gaps; the series to highlight gets a 3px #FFCC00 outline. Bars that exceed the threshold keep their color; the threshold line tells the story.
- Threshold: a full-width 1.8px #D62828 dashed line (8 on, 5 off) with a two-line label in the right gutter ("POSTED" / "MAX 20 MIN"), 700 11px red.
- Highlighted period: a #DDE4EC rectangle behind the data from the period start to end, 16px taller than the plot, with an uppercase 700 10.5px label inside its top-left corner.
- Series tags at the line ends: 38 x 24 px black rounded rectangles (3px radius) with the series code in 700 15px yellow; the cased series' tag also gets a 3px yellow outline. Keep tags at least 30px apart vertically.
- Peak callout: a 1px black horizontal leader from the peak and a 700 13px label like "B2 peak 28 min at 06:45".

Avoid: color-coding series by hue, gradients, shadows, smoothing, light or thin type, and any extra accent beyond yellow and red.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the title duration equals the count of 15-minute readings above the threshold times 15, the yellow casing is visible on every segment, and the tags and the threshold label do not collide.
