Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Screenprint" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a hand-pulled gig poster. Dark stock, three flat opaque inks, huge condensed type, a touch of misregistration and mesh texture. Bold, musical and handmade, but laid out with care.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Stock: #16213A (dark navy) for the whole canvas.
- Cream ink: #F3E8CF for text, the frame, the baseline and the date strip.
- Fluorescent orange ink: #FF6A2B for ordinary bars and the third headline line.
- Mint ink: #8FE3C3 for the single top item: its bar and the headline's first word (plus one small tick in the date strip).

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Bebas Neue for the stacked headline (two 124px lines, 1px letter-spacing: the top item's name in mint, then the rest in cream), a 52px orange line completing the finding ("SOLD THE MOST SEATS"), bar values (30px cream), a 46px cream total and 20px dates in the strip.
- Space Grotesk for small type: eyebrow 700 13px uppercase with 3px letter-spacing; category labels 700 12px uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing; subtitle 500 16px; notes 14px and source 12px at 80% opacity; strip venue names 700 10px.

Layout:
- A 2px cream frame 18px inside the canvas.
- Left column (x 40 to about 450): eyebrow at y 62, headline lines with baselines at y 164, 262 and 320, subtitle and note at y 362 and 386, a "TOUR TOTAL" label with the total at y 432 and 476, source at y 504.
- Right column: a 3px cream vertical baseline at x 469, then one row per category (54px pitch): the label 12px above a 26px bar that starts at the baseline, the value 10px past the bar end.
- A 42px cream strip at y 528 across the bottom (30px in from the frame on each side) with one cell per date: date in Bebas and venue in Space Grotesk, both in navy, cells separated by 2.5px orange dots.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines and no value axis: direct values at the bar ends. Only the cream baseline.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal square-cornered bars sorted largest first, all orange except the top one in mint.
- Line chart: a 5px orange line with square joins on a cream baseline, each point a 9px cream square, the top point and its segment in mint, values in Bebas cream above the points; the stacked headline and date strip stay the same.

Texture and effects:
- Swollen ink: filter each ink layer with a noise displacement (base frequency 0.7, scale 1.8), a 0.9px blur, then an alpha curve (slope 2.6, intercept -0.55) so edges are soft, slightly rounded and a little fat. Small type gets only a 0.8 displacement so it stays sharp.
- Misregistration: shift the whole mint layer 3px right and 2px up relative to the others.
- Mesh: over the big solids only (headline block and bars), a 4px grid of 0.8px stock-colored lines rotated 22° at 22% opacity.

Avoid: gradients, glows, transparency blends between inks (they are opaque), more than three inks, thin serif type, and mesh over small text.

When you're done, render the chart and check that only one item is mint, bars are sorted, the small labels are crisp and readable at thumbnail size, the misregistration is visible but slight, and the headline's claim and total match the data.
