Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Stadium Scoreboard" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a stadium scoreboard made of incandescent bulbs. Every letter, number and bar is a pattern of lit round bulbs on a black board; every other bulb position is still visible, dark and unlit.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Board: #0B0907. Unlit bulbs: #2A2118.
- Lit amber: #FFA416 (radial gradient #FFF3C4 core, #FFA416 at 55%, #C45F00 edge). Lit white: #FFF1D0 (#FFFFFF core, #FFF1D0, #E0B878 edge). Lit red: #FF4B2B (#FFD9C9 core, #FF4B2B, #A31800 edge). Put each gradient's center slightly up and left (cx 0.42, cy 0.38, r 0.62) so bulbs look domed.
- Module seams: black 3px bands with a 1px #3A2E22 line on each side.

Typography: no fonts. Draw all text with a 5 x 7 dot-matrix alphabet (one bulb per pixel, 1 bulb of spacing between characters), uppercase only.
- Main board: 5px bulb pitch, lit bulbs 2.15px radius, unlit 1.75px. Use it for the title (white), category labels (white), values (amber) and secondary values (red).
- Message strips: horizontal full-width strips on a finer 3px pitch (lit 1.25px, unlit 1px, strip background #070504), 33px tall, for the subtitle, the column heads with the scale, and the footer. All strip text in amber.

Layout:
- Title top left on the main board, 8 bulbs in from the edge. Then a strip with the subtitle on the left and the scale key ("1 BULB = 1 WIN" style) on the right. Then a strip with the column heads: the category head on the left, scale numbers centered over their bulb columns, and heads for any value columns on the right.
- The chart on the main board, then a footer strip with "SOURCE: ILLUSTRATIVE DATA" on the left and an abbreviation key on the right.
- Over everything, a radial vignette from transparent at 60% to black at 55% opacity.

Axes and grid:
- No lines. The scale is the bulb grid itself: say what one bulb is worth, and light pairs of dim bulbs (amber at 50%, 1.8px) at every scale step in the gaps between rows as guides.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars, 5 bulbs tall, one bulb column per unit (or per stated step), aligned to the 7-bulb label height. The leader's bar lit white, the rest amber. Values to the right in amber 5 x 7 digits, a secondary value column (differences, ranks) in red, with "-" for the leader.
- Line chart: plot each series as a trail of lit bulbs, one per grid column, stepping between rows (no anti-aliased lines), 2 bulbs thick. First series amber, second white, third red. Label each series at its right end in its own color on the board; light the last point's bulb block 3 x 3.
- Glow: wrap lit bulbs in a filter that merges a 2.2px blur and a 7px blur at 70% alpha under the source (strip bulbs: 1.1px and 4px). Use a user-space filter region covering the full canvas.

Avoid: any real font, any line or rectangle that isn't made of bulbs, gradients on the board, colors other than amber, warm white and red, and bulbs placed off the grid.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every bulb sits on its grid, the dot-matrix text reads at thumbnail size, and bar lengths match the stated bulb value exactly.
