Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Savings Tracker" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a finance terminal tracking money won. Near-black, one bright green for the actuals, dim gray for the plan, and a quiet event strip that shows where the jumps came from.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B0B0F (near-black).
- Actuals and event bars: #4ADE80 (bright green); minor events at 55% opacity, the called-out ones at full strength. Area under the actuals: a vertical gradient of #4ADE80 from 16% to 0% opacity.
- Target: #52525B (dim gray), its label #A1A1AA.
- Title #F4F4F5, secondary text #8B8B95, gridlines #1C1C24, baselines #34343E, quarter labels and source #5A5A66.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Unbounded for the title (600, 26px, #F4F4F5, stating the result against target), the hero KPI (600, 30px, green, right-aligned) and callout amounts (500, 12px, green).
- Manrope for everything else: eyebrow 11px 700 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing ("ORGANIZATION / TEAM / PERIOD"); subtitle 15px #8B8B95; KPI subline 13px 600; axis labels 11.5px; callout names 12.5px 700 in #F4F4F5; quarter labels 10px 700 with 1.2px letter-spacing; footer 12px.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 88, subtitle at y 114. The KPI (total to date) sits top right with "vs. $6.0M target +$0.19M" under it.
- Main plot from x 80 to 880, y 168 to 420. Directly below it a 50px event strip ending at y 500, labeled "EVENTS" in the left margin. Month labels under the strip; Q1 to Q4 labels between the plot and the strip; thin quarter dividers run through both.
- Footer at y 568: source at left, then a key for event bars, actuals and target.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #1C1C24 gridlines every $1M with "$1M" labels at left; vertical quarter dividers in the same color. No axis lines except the #34343E baselines.

Marks:
- Line chart: the cumulative actuals as a 2.6px green step line (jumps at each event) with a soft glow (Gaussian blur 4, merged under the line) and the gradient area below; a 5px end dot. The target is a 2px dashed (6 on 4) gray step line rising once per quarter.
- Event strip: one 6px-wide green bar per event, height proportional to its value.
- Bar chart: monthly bars of savings in green (3px top radius) with the cumulative target drawn as the dashed gray step line and the cumulative actuals as a thin green step line over them.

Labels and annotation:
- Call out the three largest events: a 3.5px hollow green ring on the step, a 1px dotted green leader up and across, the event name in 12.5px 700 white and "+$0.92M" under it in green Unbounded. Flip callouts to the right side when the left would collide.

Avoid: red, candlesticks, more than one bright color, heavy gridlines, and labeling every event.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the title's percentage and the KPI equal the final cumulative value against target, the step line's last value equals the sum of event bars, and no callout covers the target label.
