Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Rose Window" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an abbey nave at dusk with the stained glass lit from outside. Each bar is a strip of backlit glass leaded into quarries, glowing softly against deep midnight navy. Solemn and precise.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0F1328 (midnight navy), with a radial vignette lifting the center to #1A2046.
- Glass: #D8324F (ruby), #3D6BE0 (cobalt), #E0A526 (gold). Each pane has a vertical gradient from the base color at the edges to a brighter core (#F2627A, #7598F7, #F8CF5C) between 45% and 55% height.
- Lead: #070914 for bar borders and cames. Background lead grid: #232A4C.
- Text: #E9E4F5 for names and title, #8C90B4 for secondary text, #F0C35A for values and the eyebrow.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cormorant SC for words: title 700 34px #E9E4F5, stating the finding; eyebrow 600 15px with 2.4px letter-spacing in #F0C35A; row labels 600 18px right-aligned; legend 600 16px; the column heading "Hours" 600 14px in gold.
- Alegreya for figures and prose: subtitle 17px italic #8C90B4; values 700 18px #F0C35A with lining, tabular figures, right-aligned in a column at the far right; axis numbers 13px #8C90B4; source 13px italic.

Layout:
- 60px margins, header in the top 130px, a legend row of small leaded swatches (22 x 14 px glass with a 2.5px lead border) at about y 150.
- Row labels end 16px left of the bar start (about x 290). Bars run to about x 820; the value column is right-aligned at about x 900. Row pitch 38px, bar thickness 24px.

Axes and grid:
- A thin vertical lead grid behind the bars: 1.5px #232A4C lines at round values, labeled at the top in 13px Alegreya. No axis lines, no x labels at the bottom.

Marks:
- Bar chart: each bar is glass with a glow halo behind it (the same rectangle in its color at 75% opacity, Gaussian blur 7), then the gradient pane fill, then 2.5px #070914 vertical cames every fixed unit (100 hours here) and a 3px #070914 border with round joins. Color the bars by category, not by rank, and explain the colors in the legend. Say in the source line what one quarry represents.
- Line chart: each series is a 6px lead line (#070914) with a 3px glass-colored core and a blurred halo in the same color, points as small round glass bosses (6px radius, gradient fill, 2px lead ring). Values at the line ends in gold Alegreya. Keep the vertical lead grid.

Avoid: flat unlit fills, rounded bar ends, colors outside the three glass tones, white text for values, and literal church clip art.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the halos glow but never blur into neighboring rows, the cames line up at the same values across all bars, the value column is right-aligned, and any share in the title matches the data.
