Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "RevPAR Panels" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a monthly owner's report from a boutique hotel. Quiet cream paper, literary italic headline, three calm stacked panels that let the reader compare shapes rather than values.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FBF7EF (cream). Alternate-year band behind the middle year: #F4EEE2.
- Series, one per panel: #7A9E7E (sage), #7B3F61 (plum), #1E2F4F (navy). The headline metric (the last panel) is navy and drawn thickest.
- Ink: #2A2622. Secondary text: #6F665B. Gridlines: #E7DFD0. Panel baselines and x ticks: #CFC4B1.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Crimson Pro italic: headline 34px 600 in ink, stating the finding; a one-sentence takeaway beneath it at 17px 400 italic in #6F665B; folio ("Page 3") 14px italic.
- Libre Franklin for labels: eyebrow 11px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; panel labels in small caps built by hand (first letter 16px 700, the rest uppercase 12.5px 700, 1px letter-spacing) in the panel's series color; unit line below at 11.5px 400; tick labels 11px; last-value labels 14px 700 in the series color with the period ("Dec") in 10.5px beneath; year labels 12.5px 700 with 1.5px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow at y 44, headline at y 86, takeaway at y 114, then a 1px ink rule across the page at y 134.
- Three panels stacked from y 156, each 104px tall with 20px gaps, sharing one x axis. A left label column (x 56 to about 280) holds each panel's small-caps name, unit and a 22px color swatch bar drawn at the line's stroke width. Plot runs from x 296 to 842; last-value labels sit 12px right of the plot.
- Shared x axis under the bottom panel: quarter months (Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct) at 11px, and bold year labels centered under each year.

Axes and grid:
- Each panel has its own scale with three 1px #E7DFD0 gridlines and right-aligned labels 10px left of the plot, plus a 1px #CFC4B1 baseline. No vertical axis lines.
- The middle year gets a full-height #F4EEE2 band behind all three panels to separate years.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight-segment lines, 2.2px for supporting metrics and 3.6px for the headline metric, round joins; a final dot (r 4, r 5 for the headline) with a 2px cream ring, and a last-value label beside it.
- Bar chart: the same three stacked panels with slim square-topped columns (about 55% of the band) in each panel's color, the latest column labeled; the headline panel's columns in navy.

Avoid: a shared y axis across panels, legends (the panel labels are the legend), heavy gridlines, bright colors, sans-serif headlines, and more than three panels.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the takeaway sentence is arithmetically true, the three panels align on the same x positions, the small caps read as small caps, and no label in the left column touches the tick labels.
