Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Review Queue" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a litigation-support status report. Calm parchment, a solid docket-green matter strip, bookish display type and disciplined, tabular data.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F6F1E7 (parchment).
- Docket green: #14532D for the header strip, the rule under the subtitle, the primary series and running-total labels.
- Privilege gold: #B7791F for the second series.
- Pale sage: #D9E4D2 for the third, lowest-priority series, always with a 0.8px #A9BBA0 outline so it holds against the page.
- Ink: #1E2A22 for the title, legend and baseline. Secondary text: #6A6558. Gridlines and the footer rule: #E2D9C6.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Libre Caslon Display 400: title 36px ink, sentence case, stating the finding.
- Lato: header strip 11.5px uppercase with 2.2px letter-spacing (700 parchment for the matter number and period, 400 sage for the case name); subtitle 15px #6A6558; legend 13.5px; running-total labels 13px 700 green (the milestone 15px 900); axis and category labels 12 to 12.5px #6A6558; notes in italic; source 12px; a "PRIVILEGED & CONFIDENTIAL" folio 10.5px 700 with 2px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- A full-width 38px green header strip at the top: matter number left, case name centered, period right.
- 48px side margins. Title baseline y 92, subtitle y 120, a 1px green rule at y 140, legend y 166 (with an italic green note on the right explaining the numbers above the bars), plot from y 214 to 500, footer rule at y 548 and source plus folio at y 572.

Axes and grid:
- Y labels with thousands separators right-aligned 12px left of the plot; 1px #E2D9C6 horizontal gridlines; a 1.2px ink baseline. Category labels (W1, W2, ...) 22px below the baseline; the milestone category in 700 ink.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked square-cornered bars 42px wide, green at the base, gold in the middle, sage on top. Above each bar, 10px up, the running cumulative share in green. Mark the milestone bar with a short 1px green tick and an italic label such as "Halfway".
- Line chart: a 2.5px green line for the primary series, a 2px gold line for the second, and the third as a sage area with its 0.8px #A9BBA0 edge; running-total labels above the green line's points, 10px up.

Avoid: rounded corners, gradients, shadows, a sage fill without its outline, and more than one milestone highlight.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the running percentages are cumulative and correct, the stack order is the same in every bar and in the legend, the sage segments are visible against the parchment, and header strip text is evenly distributed.
