Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Reverb Curve" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a figure from an acoustic consultant's report on a concert hall, printed on deep charcoal. Technical and elegant: a quiet shaded target band, two measured curves, every point labeled in small figures, one warm gold accent.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #17181C (charcoal).
- Primary series: #D4A94F (warm gold), also used for the eyebrow and its value labels.
- Comparison series: #C9CED6 (pale silver), dashed.
- Target band: #3A4150 at 75% opacity. Gridlines and footer rule: #2A2C33.
- Title and legend text: #ECEAE4. Subtitle, tick labels, axis unit and source: #9A9DA6.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Gilda Display 400 for the title, 33px, #ECEAE4, sentence case, stating the finding.
- Karla for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in gold; subtitle 16px; legend 14px 600; y tick labels 13.5px; x band labels 14px 600 #ECEAE4; point labels 12px (silver 400 for the comparison, gold 700 for the primary); source and figure number 12.5px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow at y 52, title at y 98, subtitle at y 128, legend row at y 164 (line-and-dot swatch for each series, then a 26 x 14px band swatch labeled with the target range).
- Plot from x 116 to 868, y 196 to 470. Pad the frequency domain by 0.4 octave on each side so the end points and their labels clear the axis labels.
- Footer rule at y 530, source on the left, "Report AC-14 · Figure 3" on the right.

Axes and grid:
- X axis on a log scale (octave bands 63, 125, 250, 500, 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k), one 1px #2A2C33 vertical gridline at each band center, labels centered 22px below a 1px #9A9DA6 baseline, "Hz" after the last label.
- Y axis in seconds with round ticks (1.0, 1.4, 1.8, 2.2, 2.6), 1px #2A2C33 horizontal gridlines, labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot.
- The target band spans the full plot width behind everything.

Marks:
- Line chart: smooth monotone curves. Primary 2.8px gold with solid 4.5px gold dots; comparison 2px silver dashed (6 on, 4 off) with hollow 3.8px charcoal-filled dots ringed 1.6px silver. Label every point: comparison values 11px above their dots, primary values 21px below theirs, two decimals.
- Bar chart: grouped square-cornered columns per band, gold for the primary and a silver 1.6px outline with no fill for the comparison, the target band behind them, values on top in the same 12px figures.

Avoid: a linear frequency axis, glows, gradients, thick lines, a second y axis, and extra accent colors.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the band labels sit on true octave positions, no point label collides with a tick label or the other series, and every band the title claims is inside the target really is.
