Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Results Tower" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the big results wall in an election night studio. A blue-black set with a spotlight from above, tall glossy towers, huge white figures standing on a reflective floor, and a live ticker.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0A0F1F, with a spotlight radial gradient from above the top centre (#2A3E78 at 95% fading through #16214A at 60% to transparent at about 620px radius).
- Floor below the baseline: gradient #141C36 to #0A0F1F, with a 1px white line at 18% on the baseline.
- Series colors, in order: teal #1FB5A8, amber #F2A53A, violet #8A63E0, coral #F06A5B, slate #8D9BB0 (slate for independents, "other" or the smallest group). Each bar is a vertical gradient from its color to a darker shade (#138479, #B97A22, #6443AE, #B94A3E, #65728A).
- Text: #FFFFFF for the title and figures, #B7C1D3 for the subtitle, #8D9BB0 for small print. Live red: #E8414B.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Oswald for names and figures: title 600, 36px; name plates 600, 15px, 1.2px letter-spacing, uppercase, in #0A0F1F; seat figures 700, 60px, white; the majority label 500, 15px, 1.6px letter-spacing; the ticker label 600, 17px.
- Barlow for small print: eyebrow 600, 13px, 2.4px letter-spacing, uppercase; subtitle 400, 16px; full names 600, 14px, white; change lines 500, 13px; ticker text 500, 15px; source 400, 12px.

Layout:
- Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 94, subtitle at y 124, 48px left margin. A "LIVE" pill top-right (86 x 30px, rx 15, #E8414B at 16% fill with a 1.5px #E8414B stroke, a red dot with a soft halo).
- Bars stand on a baseline at about y 424, 112px wide on a 164px slot. Under the baseline, each bar's huge seat figure, then its full name and change on two lines.
- A "DECLARED" ticker strip across the bottom (34px, gradient #1A2446 to #0F162E) with a white label block on the left and a running summary line in white.

Axes and grid:
- No y axis or gridlines. One white dashed threshold line (1.6px, 8 on 6 off, 85% opacity) across the full width at the majority or target value, labeled "MAJORITY 21" right-aligned just above it.

Marks:
- Bar chart: tall square-cornered towers with a horizontal sheen (white 16% at the left edge, 4% at 35%, black 18% at the right edge) and a 3px lighter top edge. Each tower is capped by a rounded name plate (bar width + 14px, 28px tall, rx 14) in its color with a white 20% gloss pill across its top and a 0 4px 5px black 45% drop shadow. A mirrored reflection of each bar sits under the baseline at 55% opacity, faded out over 56px by a gradient mask.
- Line chart: 4px lines in the series colors with the same rounded name plates as end labels, big white figures for the latest values under the plot, and the dashed threshold line. Soft glow on each line (blur 5, 40%).

Avoid: light backgrounds, thin lines, legends (label every bar on its plate), party symbolism, red versus blue, and figures that collide with the threshold line.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the seats sum to the stated total, the majority number is half the total plus one, no plate touches the threshold line or its label, and the reflections fade out before the figures' name lines.
