Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Reserves Statement" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a mining company's annual resource statement on dark slate. Metal-toned stacked columns with fine light edges, a classic serif headline and a clean geometric sans. Measured, confident and a little premium.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1A1F2B. Gridlines and footer rule: #2C3342.
- Primary text and segment outlines: #EDE7DA. Secondary text: #9AA0AC.
- Categories bottom to top: #C06A3E (copper), #D2B874 (brass), #5E9C8C (verdigris). The eyebrow uses #D2B874.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Spectral 600 for the title (32px, stating the finding) and the column totals (16px).
- Manrope for everything else: eyebrow 600 11px uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; subtitle 400 14px #9AA0AC with measure, unit and period; legend 600 13px; strip label 700 10px uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing; axis labels 500 12px; category labels 500 13px (latest 700 #EDE7DA); segment values 700 14px in #1A1F2B; source 11px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow, title, subtitle, then a legend of 14px squares (with the same thin outline) at 120px spacing.
- Above the main plot, a separate strip (about 44px tall, ending with a 1px #2C3342 rule) shows a related second measure as a thin 1.2px #EDE7DA line through r3.2 rings (background fill, 1.4px stroke) with each value printed 10px above its ring. It has no axis of its own.
- Main plot from x 110 to 904, y 250 to 520. Footer rule at y 556 and a one-line source that states how the strip measure was derived.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #2C3342 horizontal gridlines at round values, the zero line #9AA0AC. Y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot with the unit ("Mt") above the top label. No vertical gridlines.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked columns 60px wide, square corners, each segment edged with a 0.8px #EDE7DA stroke at 85% opacity. Totals above each column in Spectral. Only the latest column carries segment values, printed in dark text centered in each segment.
- Line chart: three 2px lines in the category colors (or stacked areas with the same 0.8px light outlines between bands), direct labels at the right end, totals as Spectral figures at the last point, and the same companion strip above.

Avoid: a secondary y axis, gradients, glows, rounded corners, a bright white outline, and labeling every segment of every column.

When you're done, render the chart and check that segments sum to the printed totals, the strip values are arithmetically consistent with the source note, the category order is the same in the legend and the stacks, and the thin outlines are visible but quiet.
