Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Reserve Holdings" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an engraved reserves report on warm parchment, framed like a banknote. Classical serif headline, centered composition, and a fine guilloche border in hairline gray.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #F8F2E4 (warm parchment).
- Series, bottom to top: #B8860B (muted gold, the highlighted asset, anchored on the baseline), #0F766E (teal), #1E3A5F (navy), #9CA3AF (gray).
- Engraving lines: #8E8A82. Ink #2A2622, secondary text #6F675B. Eyebrow and ornament: #B8860B.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cormorant Garamond 600 with lining figures (font-variant-numeric: lining-nums) for the title (34px, ink, centered, stating the finding) and an italic 600 18px gold kicker ("Gold: 8% to 18%").
- Lato for everything else: eyebrow 11px 700 uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing in gold, centered; subtitle 14px #6F675B centered; segment values 12px 700 (13px 900 in the gold segment), white on dark segments and ink on gray; axis labels 12 to 13px; direct labels 13px 700; source 11px centered.

Layout:
- A guilloche border band between hairline frames at 18px and 42px from the edges, plus an inner 0.4px frame at 46px. Inside the band, six sine strands per edge (phase-shifted by 60 degrees, 0.45px, #8E8A82 at 85% opacity) interlace into a woven ribbon that tapers at each end; 26px corner squares filled with parchment hold small hypotrochoid rosettes.
- Centered eyebrow, title, subtitle, then a small ornament: two 52px gold hairlines with a gold diamond between them.
- The chart fills the middle with direct labels (10px color squares plus names) to the right of the last bar, centered on each segment.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines. Y labels at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% with 4px tick marks. A 1px ink baseline. Year labels 22px below it, the latest year 700 in ink.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100 percent stacked columns, 42px wide, square corners, with 1px parchment separators between segments. Every segment carries its value centered inside it.
- Line chart: use 100 percent stacked areas in the same colors and order with 1px parchment boundaries, the highlighted gold layer on the baseline, values printed at the first and last year, and the same direct labels at the right.

Texture:
- The guilloche is drawn as vector hairlines, never an image; keep every line at 0.45 to 0.8px so it reads as engraving, not as a heavy frame.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, rounded corners, a separate legend box, and bold ornament that competes with the data.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each column sums to 100, the border never touches text, segment labels fit inside their segments, and the gold layer sits on the baseline.
